Russian security forces raided gay clubs and bars across Moscow Friday night, less than 48 hours after the countrys top court banned what it called the global LGBTQ+ movement as an extremist organization.
Police searched venues across the Russian capital, including a nightclub, a male sauna, and a bar that hosted LGBTQ+ parties, under the pretext of a drug raid, local media reported.
Eyewitnesses told journalists that clubgoers documents were checked and photographed by the security services. They also said that managers had been able to warn patrons before police arrived.
The raids follow a decision by Russias Supreme Court to label the countrys LGBTQ+ movement as an extremist organization.

(there were reports a few years ago, that a big-name Republican was regularly soliciting male prostitutes - on condition they refer to him solely as 'Lady G')

I guess Putin's working through his to-do list.

(1,527 posts)Whether it is Hungary, likely Poland, Russia, or Uganda, this sort of thing is growing. But then again, right-wing groups, not just in the US but elsewhere have bought it to it, and much of the groups gave a lot of money to the governments to support them.
