Ron DeSantis bashes Trump and teases plans to 'supersede' Obamacare
Source: NBC
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he would replace Obamacare with a "better plan" part of an interview in which he criticized former President Donald Trump for failing to deliver on numerous policy promises during his term in the White House, including frequent pledges to replace the health care law.
Obamacare hasnt worked, DeSantis said in the interview with moderator Kristen Welker, which aired Sunday morning. We are going to replace and supersede with a better plan.
He declined to provide details about how his plan would "supersede" Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, adding that his campaign would most likely roll out a proposal in the spring.
DeSantis asserted that his plan would have "more transparency, more consumer choice, more affordable options, less red tape, less bureaucracy weighing everybody down."

(130,814 posts)Big profits for insurers which will be allowed once again to exclude pre-existing conditions, impose high deductibles and deny coverage for almost everything. That's what's meant by "affordable options." For only $100 a month you'll be covered for kwashiorkor, jungle rot, earwig infestations, removal of a sixth toe and not much else.

(10,602 posts)I wonder if there was any pushback. I believe the number of uninsured dropped significantly. Let me guess, their solution will be tax credits and the magic hand (middle finger) of the free market.

(7,210 posts)... will be part of the plan. If a "plan" ever shows up.
How does that help if all you do is fill out the short form every year?

the brain power or energy to design a plan that works. Never have and never will. The so-called "free market" is an easy answer to everything when you are braindead.

(5,090 posts)Given they can't get budget deals done that have a well established template, I can't imagine what level of drama and Talk Alot But Do Nothing creating a new comprehensive health care plan would entail. And that is just on the GOP side. Dems won't even play in that cat litter excuse for a legislative sand box.

Of course, if he did provide details his campaign would be over fast. The liberal press would badger him ceaselessly about which details would be included.
The answer "I'd replace it with a better plan" won't work because the press would demand what would be exactly what he means. He is asking us to trust him. Do you think anybody (sane) would believe him? He's got his rabid right and they don't make up the vast majority of voters.
The Biden campaign has to take each one of his replace model items and show the public how it cannot work as Obamacare obviously does for the vast majority of Americans.

(11,212 posts)Trump 2018- Obamacare is a disaster. You have to remember Obamacare doesnt work, so we are putting in a wonderful plan. It statutorily takes a while to get. Were going to be putting it in fairly soon. I think that, yes, I would like to say by the end of the year, at least the rudiments, but we should have something within the year and the following year. As he campaigned for the White House that he declared in an interview with CBS 60 Minutes: I am going to take care of everybody
Everybodys going to be taken care of much better than theyre taken care of now. More recently, Trump has promised that repeal will end with a beautiful picture.
Rubio 2015-The time has come for our generation to lead the way toward a new American century, Fla. Senator Marco Rubio said. If we reform our tax code, reduce regulations, control spending, modernize our immigration laws and repeal and replace Obamacare, the American people will create millions of better-paying modern jobs.
And in blasted memory of Kissinger
In the Fall of 1968, Richard Nixon was elected U.S. President with the pledge to end the controversial war on Vietnam based on his secret planwhich he refused to divulge, but he promised peace with honor. As archives recently made public revealed, Nixons actual peace plan was to escalate the war. I cant believe that a fourth-rate power like Vietnam doesnt have a breaking point, Kissinger moaned.
Desantis is just another brick in the wall.

(13,031 posts)the AHCA and the BCRA. Problem: they were awful
This Wikipedia articles covers both the AHCA (American Health Care Act) and the BCRA (Better Care Reconciliation Act)

H.R. 1628, American Health Care Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 5/24/17

would increase the number of people who are uninsured by 23 million in 2026 relative to current law.
H.R. 1628, Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 6/26/17

A little bit better: leaving 22 million uninsured in 2026 relative to current law.
This is the one that Senator John McCain famously turned thumbs down on. Otherwise it would have become law.

Both can only be described as acts of American Genocide. We need to call the GOP the American Genocide Party.
