Las Vegas police respond to active shooter report at UNLV, say suspect is dead

Las Vegas police on Wednesday said there appear to be multiple victims in a shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. Police said the suspect was dead.
"The suspect has been located and is deceased," the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote on social media, after earlier saying, "The suspect is contained. This is an active investigation. Please continue to avoid the area and watch for responding emergency units."

We just came back from walking outside, observing what was going on close by but not really getting any news.

I’m surprised to learn the shooter was deceased so long ago, streets are still shut down here, police are everywhere.

Can anyone tell me what I missed?

Those hours were spent searching the campus, finding and helping evacuate all the students that were sheltering. And then searching again after everyone was evacuated.

A huge effort that must have been scary for everyone. It seems to have been handled really well by all first responders. I feel grateful 🥲

Las Vegas police say at least three people were killed and one person was in critical condition after a shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect was dead.

"According to our investigators at the scene, we have three deceased victims and one additional victim in critical condition at a local hospital," the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote on social media
