Nearly 17,000 people may have died after taking hydroxycholoroquine during the first wave of COVID, according to a study by French researchers.
The anti-malaria drug was prescribed to some patients hospitalized with COVID-19 during the first wave of the pandemic, "despite the absence of evidence documenting its clinical benefits," the researchers point out in their paper, published in the February issue of Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy.
Now, researchers have estimated that some 16,990 people in six countries France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Turkey and the U.S. may have died as a result...................
In fact, they say the figure may be far higher given the study only concerns six countries from March to July 2020, when the drug was prescribed much more widely............................

Died but were diagnosed
Died because they could not get medical care because it was busy being used for
Covid cases.
Trump owns many of those cases because he and Jared were busy buying hydroxchloroquitin
and their own C-19 test kits neither which worked. Along w/Jared fucking up the P,.P.E. supplies
that President Obama and Dr. Fauci put aside to help with any future airborne pandemics.

But kid gloves tRump saying it -- oh, no problem!

The manner of speaking that is interpreted as excessively careful and milquetoast by, you know, idiots, actually saves people's lives.

Somebody PAID Chump to tell Americans to take Hydroxychloroquine ... I guarantee it.
I live in Pennsylvania and in 2022 we witnessed the senatorial contest between John Fetterman and "Doctor Oz" - Mehmet Oz - who wasn't even a resident of our state. Dr. Oz has many contacts in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as a medical license, and therefore people tended to believe his tabloid-style pronouncements before and during his campaign. What people sometimes failed to understand was that Dr. Oz's wife had a seat on the executive board of Thermo Fischer Scientific, a manufacturer of Hydroxychloroquine sulfate, and they were owners of over $600K stock in the company. Oz received campaign donations from Thermo Fischer Scientific and McKesson Corp, another manufacturer of Hydroxychloroquine sulfate.
One could jump to the obvious conclusion that even though Doctor Oz had an infinitesimal chance of being elected Senator in Pennsylvania, perhaps that didn't matter. Perhaps his only objective was to convince certain MAGA voters to reject the Biden Administration's vaccinations, and solidify the MAGAts belief in Hydroxychloroquine because .... it works! This is the miracle you're looking for! Pfizer and Moderna don't know what they're doing ... this is what you need!
I don't know, I'm just spitballin' here. Honestly I don't know anyone who actually voted for Doctor Oz. Everyone I know voted for John Fetterman, and as far as we were concerned he was the ONLY candidate.
But this bounces back to Chump. He never ... NEVER! ... gives a recommendation for anything unless he's been paid. We can be sure that some Big Pharma Company paid Chump to say this. And at least 17,000 people believed him and died. (I'm sure the number is much higher.) When is Chump going to be charged with these deaths?

(51,231 posts)he can hold the record for President with most indictments. There should be a money trail somewhere leading from those companies to his pockets. He has a long history of fraud, lies, screwing everyone every chance he gets, grifting money from his idiot supporters, etc.
It always amazes me how his supposedly rural low income voters feel the need to donate money to a supposed billionaire. And how a US president would still be trying to make money from his hotels and other businesses to launder foreign donations.

(51,231 posts)Many conservative idiots were selling poison online to other conservative idiots who were buying it. Often without any prescription or doctor supervision. They sold ivermectin, colloidal silver, and more. They were really owning the libs and the deep state somehow by ignoring the advice of qualified doctors/scientists. All the while claiming that masks don't work, let in viruses but don't let in air to breathe. Idiots.

(3,753 posts)He would have, pushed anything to get rid of Covid so his precious re-election campaign could proceed. That was his fatal mistake. If he would have just handled the pandemic like a normal person(or let normal people do it for him without opening his pig gob), he would have been re-elected. Now we are facing a surge on the east coast: Two health companies that I know of have re-instituted masking.

(53,175 posts)Youd also have to add people who took malaria pills, horse dewormer, colloidal silver, bleach, essential oils, homeopathy or whatever and died not because they took this nonsense but because they refused anything that might actually have worked.
