Trump fraud trial: Trump intends to deliver part of closing argument himself, say sources
Source: ABC
Former President Donald Trump is on trial in New York in a $250 million civil lawsuit that could alter the personal fortune and real estate empire that helped propel Trump to the White House.
Trump, his sons Eric Trump and and Donald Trump Jr., and other top Trump Organization executives are accused by New York Attorney General Letitia James of engaging in a decade-long scheme in which they used "numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation" to inflate Trump's net worth in order get more favorable loan terms. The trial comes after the judge in the case ruled in a partial summary judgment that Trump had submitted "fraudulent valuations" for his assets, leaving the trial to determine additional actions and what penalty, if any, the defendants should receive.
The former president has denied all wrongdoing and his attorneys have argued that Trump's alleged inflated valuations were a product of his business skill.

He may even just post a staged version, pre-recorded and made to look like he was giving it live.
His base would believe it.

(11,203 posts)Of course, Biden has nothing to do with Trump's real estate fraud in the State of New York. Fraud committed years ago.
And by Trump's arguing in other cases, Biden would have immunity (which everyone pretty much agrees he would not have if he actually did abuse his power to go after a political opponent), for doing anything he wants as President.
And also how could a cognitively impaired low energy doddering old man suffering from dementia like Trump claims Biden is (he is not), at the same time be so adept at planning a coordinated effort to go after Trump without any trace that Biden is actually involved?

(15,376 posts)He wants to turn it into another campaign event but, as I understand it, a closing statement cannot contain facts not in evidence or not relevant to the case. For example, if he says, "everyone knows the election was stolen," the judge can shut it down or it can be declared a mistrial. Maybe that's his plan because forcing a mistrial means more delay.
It's a bench trial. Mistrial is pretty much impossible. Especially some sort of intentionally caused one.

(15,376 posts)Thanks heavens the trial isn't being broadcast. Then it would just be another campaign rally.

Is the MSM trying to lowball the severity of the matter?
Ive seen several downticks, I believe it started at $750M.
