Democratic super PAC drops ad targeting GOP on Obamacare ahead of New York special election

Source: The Hill

01/11/24 6:00 AM ET

A Democratic super PAC is dropping a new ad targeting Republicans over Obamacare ahead of a special election in New York to replace former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.). Progress Action Fund is rolling out the ad, first shared with The Hill, called “Republicans in Your Hospital,” which depicts a patient who needs lifesaving surgery but is denied the medical procedure because Republicans apparently repealed Obamacare.

“Doctor, he’s flat-lining,” a medical professional says in the 30-second spot, before a doctor says, “We need to get him into surgery.” A Republican congressman tells the doctor “sorry, you can’t do that,” saying, “Now that we’re in charge, we repealed Obamacare, and we’re not paying for this surgery.”

After the doctor pleads with the Republican congressman, telling him that her patient is dying and demands he leave the hospital, the Republican congressman says, “I won the last election, I’m not going anywhere.” “Besides, if he wanted health care, he should have been rich like me,” the GOP lawmaker adds.

The ad is a part of a $250,000 buy ahead of New York’s special election in the Third Congressional District. It’s set to air on connected TVs, streaming services and online platforms, along with their previous ads — “Republicans in Your Bedroom” and “Republicans Watching Your Daughter” — that are also a part of the buy.

Seems they meant 'new' but it could also mean 'pulls'

E.g., like "Beyonce drops a new single on YouTube that is getting a lot of buzz".

No one else seems to be reporting this (at least yet).

Back in my day, we were taught that we should write as clearly as possible.

I remember in the early to mid-90's newspapers shortening President to "Prez" and The Greatest Generation having a stroke over it. We Xers loved it though.

and DUers went absolutely apeshit ballistic about the slang meaning - despite many of us tail-end boomers trying to describe what the millennials used the term for. Took a LONG LONG time to get that straightened out.

I expected to read that they'd abruptly changed their minds about running it.

P.S. I also get annoyed reading about people "leaking" photos of themselves taken with their knowledge and consent onto their own media platforms. It's when people publish them WITHOUT permission on OTHER media platforms that they're "leaked."
