No Labels files DOJ complaint about groups boycotting its 2024 presidential ballot access effort

No Labels, a political group that's preparing a potential independent presidential ticket in 2024, filed a Justice Department complaint requesting an investigation into some organizations led by Democrats and their allies that the group alleges are trying to interfere in its efforts to gain ballot access in all 50 states and Washington D.C.
No Labels leader and lawyer Dan Webb announced the complaint in a press conference in Washington Thursday and said the filing alleged an "unlawful conspiracy to subvert Americans voting rights, and shut down the organization's effort to secure ballot access in the 2024 presidential election."
"We have set forth substantial evidence and allege that based on that evidence, there is a group of activists and artists and party officials who have participated in alleged illegal conspiracy to use intimidation, harassment and fear against representatives of no labels, its donors and as potential candidates," Webb said.
The political group said in the 11-page complaint that it's "one thing to oppose candidates who are running; it's another to use intimidation to prevent them from even getting in front of the voters."

(3,560 posts)Assholes like Leonard Leo are the people funding No Labels. Keep in mind that that fuckstick is the same guy who takes the extra corrupt scumbag (In)Justice Clarence Uncle Slappy the Clown Thomas and his equally sleazy wife on expensive trips (that Slappy never disclosed as required by law) just before Leo would have cases before the court (either directly or some Reichwing cause he was funding).

(43,307 posts)worth 123 electoral college votes: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, South Dakota, and Utah.
They've said they intend to be spoilers for Biden, but they'll probably only hurt Trump. No Labels is misreading the electorate, imo, because some of these poll numbers are old, and this year will constitute more of the kind of turnout of 2020.
Both Biden (at 38 percent) and Trump (41 percent) are underwater with independents, the swing voters in most 21st century presidential elections.
A Gallup synthesis of its 2023 polls released last Friday showed that 43 percent of Americans last year politically self-identified as independents, tying the all-time record of 2014.
And we are no longer just talking about Republican-leaning or Democrat-leaning independents, blocs whose voting habits have been relatively predictable over time.
The number of measurably independent independents has grown by 46 percent nationwide since October 2008, from 24.5 million to 35.3 million, nearly edging out the total of registered Republicans (35.7 million, as of October 2023, compared to 45.9 million Democrats).
In 2004, among the 30+ states that track partisan registration, Democrats and Republicans combined for a 75 percent market share; now that's down to 68 percent. (Registered Libertarians, meanwhile, have tripled since 2008, up to 742,000.)

(15,377 posts)to get on the ballot in many states. And I agree that is wrong, but it is also not a crime. These shitheads are facing the same hurdles that the libertarian and green parties faced, and yet somehow they both managed to get on the ballot in many states. On the other hand they both also have actual party members and actual political support in the population, which makes the tedious and expensive work of things like collecting signatures easier.

(53,994 posts)if they have no comprehension that there is a 2-party system in this country, like it or not. They said their candidates would withdraw if it appeared they were taking votes away from either Republican or Democratic candidates. Huh? Any support they might get takes away from those candidates. It's not rocket science. The stupidity is frightening. It's like Ralph Nader and Jill Stein never existed.

They don't have candidates running at any local, state, or federal level except possibly for President.
