Palestinians testify in federal court against Biden's 'complicity' in genocide

Source: The Independent

Dr Omar Al-Najjar called into a federal courtroom in Oakland, California from an administrative building at a hospital in Rafah, the only room where he could get an internet connection.

Sitting on the floor in his scrubs, the doctor testified by video, explaining how his family in Gaza was repeatedly violently displaced under Israeli bombardments, enduring random bursts of gunfire and rockets.

At the hospital in Rafah, thousands of patients arriving daily lack adequate care, he said on Friday. There is severe dehydration and hunger. Patients with chronic diseases don’t have the medication they need.

---

Dr Al-Najjar was the first among several Palestinians testifying in an unprecedented case against President Joe Biden, who is being sued by a group of American Palestinians and aid groups accusing him of failing to prevent genocide in Gaza under obligations to international and federal law.

the injustice they suffered from the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. Now days I am much less sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. They blame everybody but their own corrupt and extremely violent leadership for their sorry state. Years of suicide bombings by Palestinians didn't convince the Israelis of their noble intentions.

It looks to me if the Palestinians had the upper hand they would kill every Jew from the river to the sea to create their very own fundamentalist Muslim ethnostate. At least that's what Hamas and their friends tell me.

I have been critical of Israel all my life. Since October 7 I have a new understanding of what the Israeli people are up against.

It's quite ironic that Israelis are being accused of genocide, not just because it's an abhorrent attempt to twist and deny the Holocaust, but because it's now quite evident that the people bent on genocide are many Muslim Palestinians and their supporters. "From the river to the sea" is clearly a call for eradication of Israel. But Hamas and their global supporters are not shy about stating their intentions: the eradication of all Jews.

Jewish people are a tiny percent of the world's population. Islam is the second largest religion and the one that is growing fastest. There are 50 nations that are majority Muslim, and only one tiny country that is majority-Jewish. There's a clear imbalance here.

sounds like it was written as a graduate student project in an ethnic studies/poli-sci program at an Ivy League School.

They don't want to fight Jews because of their religion. No, no. Islam is a religion of peace (esp. as Hamas exemplifies it) and they just want justice and peace and equity in an Islamic democracy that abides by true democratic principles.

No, they just want to fight Zionists.

Please, don't ask what any of the terms mean or what results from comparing words with actions and things. That's entirely inappropriate, even fascist.

It's an old ploy and straight from the Soviet/Iranian playbooks. If you agree with them like little loyal lickspittles, then you can be kept as a domestic Haredi pet. But if you demand some sort of rights, equality with your superiors, then you're an uppity little corkscrew-like organ of an uppity Zionist pig. The "good n... Jew" is a subservient Jew. Which is why Palestine--ignore the pogroms and oppression--has always seen Muslims living at peace with the oppressed minorities. Like the antebellum US South lived in peace with its oppressed black population.

But the charter written in the Newspeak of the modern hoi aristoi, the "best," for the West, and comports with the "best's" sensibilities in which words outrank meaning--a word is a thing and the referent is beside the point. Like sugar of lead, those words go down smooth but make you stupid. Divorce words from their things and you get much of modern social sciences and humanities.

have to be protected regardless of who started this particular conflict. The fact of the matter is that most regular people in most countries (including in our own) tend to have little say in what those with power choose to do. The Palestinian people should be entitled to human rights and empathy like any other group. It just seems like race/religion is a factor in how western countries view this conflict - not just now but for many years now.

but have no problem in their support of Hamas.

This is an article from November 27, 2023:

"Comments made at an Oakland City Council meeting this week are going around the world in a viral video.

The council refused to condemn Hamas for its attack on Israel on Oct.7, but what has social media buzzing is comments made in support of the terrorist organization.

“I support the right of Palestinians to resist occupation, including through Hamas, the armed wing of the unified Palestinian resistance,” said a community member.

That was just one of the comments from Monday’s Oakland City Council meeting. It all started with a resolution to support a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.

But, then came an amendment to condemn Hamas from Councilmember Dan Kalb.

“How anybody in the public could think that is legitimate resistance, that’s just nuts! You gotta be crazy to think that!” he said.

"Calling Hamas a terrorist group is racist and plays into the genocidal propaganda that is flooding our media and we should be doing everything possible to combat," said a person at Monday's meeting.

Gov. Gavin Newsom weighed in on X saying, “Hamas is a terrorist organization. They must be called out for what they are: evil.”

Hamas approves.

In fact, Hamas has actually expressed gratitude for the support shown by a number of Westerners and Western orgs.

I agree with him. Oct 7 was/is a hideious, heneious action.
" Ligitemet Resistance"?! Pah! What a joke!

Hahahaaaaa. Oh, please! 🙄

I know there are Palestinians who want a genuine peaceful co-existence with Israeli Jews. Maybe they are a minority sad to say.

I certainly wish effin' Netanyahu had never been elected Prime Minister. I've never forgotten he participated in the activities that set the atmosphere up for Rabin's assassination.
This war could have been more precise, and with more Israeli oops.

Feh, on the worst of both sides
