Biden campaign says he made the 'right choice' to skip Super Bowl interview

The co-chair of President Bidens campaign said Sunday the president made the right choice in skipping an interview with CBS News ahead of the Super Bowl.
No. I dont think so, Biden campaign co-Chair Mitch Landrieu said on NBCs Meet the Press when asked if Biden should have agreed to the Super Bowl interview.
I think people really want to watch a Super Bowl tonight and think about football. They dont want to hear from a politician. So I think he made the right choice for himself at this time, he added.
The network confirmed earlier this month that Biden would not be sitting down for an interview with CBS News before the Super Bowl on Sunday. The game is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 EST and is expected to attract millions of viewers, especially as buzz around pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelces romance continues to draw attention.

(30 posts)Here at a Super Bowl Game. Lots of folks, Ds and Rs (no politics or religion allowed). All laughing and talking. All of a sudden a WTF is shouted. Kennedy ad on TV. Dead silence as we watched. At the end everyone burst out laughing and saying, What was that? What an idiot. Loser. Yeah, I dont think hell get many votes from anyone.

(32,738 posts)The Super Bowl interview is perfect for reaching people who are not ordinary interested in politics. 115 million of them. What is wrong with that?

here in Chicago was most upset that President Biden chose not to do the CBS interview. She thought his advisers feared he would make some campaign damaging gaffe, and that declining the invitation was going to make Joe look old and feeble.
I think she way over-interpreted this.

(14,097 posts)why a president would do this anyway. Not wanting to watch a politician before game.

(32,738 posts)I don't think so. 115 million viewers and the interview is always softball questions. Perfect heading into a re-election.

(9,270 posts)At first, I thought Biden had made a mistake. Now, however, I'm thinking that any media operation could have taken almost any moment, painted it in a bad light, and replayed it endlessly to tear him down like they did Howard Dean with his audio-isolated "scream."
"Because of the loud cheers of his enthusiastic audience, Dean was forced to raise his voice in delivery; however, the overwhelming noise from the crowd was filtered out by his unidirectional microphone, thus giving an impression to the audiences at home that he was "loud, peculiar, and unpresidential," according to Verne Gay's column article in the Seattle Times.[1]"

It was a tragedy that Dean was destroyed politically.
