Raskin blasts GOP's top Biden impeachment witness Tony Bobulinski over interview with Oversight panel

Source: ABC News

February 20, 2024, 10:00 AM

The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin, slammed Tony Bobulinski, one of House Republicans' top witnesses in their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, in a letter first obtained by ABC News.

Bobulinski, a onetime business associate of Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden who has since become a critic of the Biden family, appeared last week before the Oversight Committee, where he reiterated claims he made during the 2020 election that Joe Biden was "an enabler" of several of his family's overseas business schemes that "sold out to foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to Joe Biden and the United States government."

"Your client's interview was chaotic to the point of burlesque as he repeatedly yelled, shouted, filibustered, and hurled outlandish and baseless accusations and insults against Democratic Members and staff," Raskin wrote in the letter sent on Tuesday to Bobulinski's attorney as well as Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer. "Mr. Bobulinski did not offer any evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden," Raskin said in his letter. "He also did not provide any evidence that President Biden was involved in his family's business dealings."

The transcript of Bobulinski's appearance appears to show that when pressed, Bobulinski -- who Comer has described as "the one honest, credible guy that was involved with the Bidens" -- could not point to direct evidence that Joe Biden was involved in his family's business dealings.

You can go back to the "lessons the GOP learned" in 1998 for the reason why.

(and since they DID impeach Mayorkas, they have some (ridiculous) impeachment under their belt)

Who doesn't know or care about 98 .. they (imo) will want to counteract the 'Trump is twice impeached ' narrative .

and they are already on the precipice of doing that now, before the election, with the resignations that continue to happen, let imperiling their quest to take the Senate.

at least until some special elections happen. Any more who leave and/or are out sick and their "majority" is in peril during those periods.

The recent redraw of both the NY and WI Congressional District maps promise to bring a bunch of (D) seats back.

Similarly a LA redraw adds another potential (D) seat as does the fraught-with-a-hassle AL new majority-black seat, expected to yield yet another (D) pickup.

We just have to make sure our voters turn out given they will probably face all kinds of GOP blockages!

Most of the senators who know him know that. If they took a little time to get to know the man, they would know he would never take a bribe. He has worked his whole life in United States government why would he sell it out for a few measly bucks? At first Lindsey Graham said he didn’t think Joe Biden would take any bribe. Now you don’t hear him say that anymore. Like impeaching Mayorkas, a dedicated public servant. They hate that people go into government to improve the country, not make money
