Former Vice President Mike Pence will not endorse Trump in 2024
Source: CNBC
Former Vice President Mike Pence said Friday that he would not endorse his former boss for president, as Trump seeks another term in office.
I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year, Pence said on Fox News.
Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years, Pence continued.
The startling announcement came as Trump secured enough Republican delegates this week to clinch the partys nomination.

Hard to endorse a guy whose supporters wanted to hang you, I suppose.

(11,766 posts)Religious fanatic and political hack, yet if it wasn't for him we'd probably have Trump as president now. Would love to see someone do a really insightful biography of him.

(22,346 posts)But that wouldn't have been enough to stop a truly MAGA-minded V.P. from doing it anyway and creating a constitutional crisis.
I for one am glad Pence wasn't brainwashed enough to do as TSF asked. As disturbingly compliant as he was with much of TSF's b.s., he was able to draw the line when it mattered the most.
I think he deserves credit for his actions on J6, and declining to endorse Trump now is good, too. A person can suck in some ways while still deserving credit for the times when they don't suck.

(5,245 posts)good to say about either Dan Potato(e) Quayl(e) or Mike Pence, but I guess that it is true that animals can see good in a person when people can't. The fly was right.

(2,332 posts)However little there may be of it. That's how we build the coalition that keeps TSF from the White House. Few of our allies will be as ideologically pure as we'd like, but it's better to have them doing the right thing with us, nevertheless, than to have them on the other side.
It's all hands on deck time. We can't be too choosy about our allies when so much is at stake.

(10,108 posts)I agree with you. I'd love for someone to do a real in depth biography of him. I don't agree with his stands, of course....anti-LGBTG+, anti-choice, etc. Having said that, I think he sincerely believes what he believes.
Also, I 100% agree that if it wasn't for him dt would be President and Democracy would be over....

(2,332 posts)But the last thing I'd ever do is spurn his help, however uneasy it makes me to have him opposed to the same thing we are.
Even now, he's a powerful guy, politically, with ties to other quite powerful people, especially the wealthy kind. He can get things done on that side of the aisle that we probably couldn't--and never would.
