Kushner Pitches Moving Palestinians Out of Gaza's 'Valuable' Waterfront

When asked if Israel should allow a Palestinian state, Kushner said it was a super bad idea.

Donald Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner has offered his own solution to the mass bloodshed and displacement in Gaza: some good, old-fashioned real estate development.
During an interview with Tarek Masoud, the faculty chair of Harvards Middle East Initiative, Kushner proposed moving Palestinians to Israels arid desert region to clean up Gazas valuable waterfront.
Gazas waterfront property could be very valuable toif people would focus on building up livelihoods, Kushner said, without clarifying who exactly would profit off such a project. He added that the area couldve had great potential if all the money in Gaza had gone into education and innovation, instead of its tunnel network and munitions.
Kushners statement comes on the heels of warnings from the United Nations that the people of Gaza are facing an imminent famine as Israel continues its offensive........................................

(14,576 posts)by a guy named Rhyd Wildermuth. It is called Here Be Monsters: How to Fight Capitalism Instead of Each Other. Here's a link - it is well worth reading: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=here+be+monsters+rhyd+wildermuth&gad_source=1&hvadid=676115030362&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9028759&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=7680057743467184342&hvtargid=kwd-2226290391539&hydadcr=22593_13531299&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_1a5iptns2n_e all the more so because it will make the average Democrat feel a bit uncomfortable. Which can be beneficial.
He gives an insider's blow-by-blow beginning in the 1999 WTO riots in Seattle. He speaks about how the traditional left was slowly co-opted by Goldman Sachs. Controversial? Yep.
But one of the main points he brings up is how the young-left has been shaped never, ever to question tactics. It is quite true the Israel government has systematically subjected Palestinians in Gaza to economic oppression - for example, there are reports that they ration electricity to four hours per day. Lots of stuff going on like that for many years.
But when Hamas did what it did on October 7, that organization proved itself as a terrorist group - hostages, killings, gang rapes. These things happened and Hamas is a bunch of dirt-bags.
However, again, the college-left has been carefully coached never to question tactics. So when Hamas did what it did and Bibi went in with guns blazing, that was a natural reaction. You have to remember, though, who is actually behind the current multi-billion dollar DEI 'industry.'
That's right! Goldman-Sachs and the rest of Wall Street. Shareholder primacy capitalism pollutes and destroys, decays everything it touches. Now, we see efforts to introduce more diversity into top management positions, which is great as far as it goes. But how does this help poor working people, no matter their race? Kids saddled with thousands in student debt? People going bankrupt from healthcare debt?
And to your point, how does this help the Palestinian civilians starving, and dying in Gaza as the war grinds on? And who benefits from reporting it, making a big deal out of it? Hint: Wall Street. Our 'media' is corporate-owned and publicly traded. This means the fiduciary responsibility of executive producers of 'news' shows is NOT truth in reporting. Ever.
Their ONLY fiduciary responsibility is to generate PROFITS for shareholders. Period. That's it. So they are pounding on a small, small movement, because they feel they can generate more profits for their shareholders (example, MSNBC is owned by Comcast, which is publicly traded) by creating controversy. Because controversy sells, horseraces sell, this is what we have.
If we successfully overturned the legal doctrine of shareholder primacy, and required CEOs of publicly traded companies to consider worker interests, consumer interests INCLUDING truth in news reporting, and the environment EQUAL to shareholder profits, and then enforced it, then we would solve a lot of problems right off the bat.
Unfortunately, we are in a race with time, with Trump bringing Manafort back because he can't pay the bond for his half-billion judgement and needs a cash infusion. Money is about to change hands, with the Kremlin and its allies financing Trump while his MAGATS work feverishly at the state and local levels to sabotage the 2024 election. If Trump wins, NATO will be betrayed and Putin will set off a devastating war in Europe. Poland is now building bomb shelters as we speak from fear of Putin. And the Republicans STILL won't fund Ukraine's continued defense because Trump has told them not to.
So you are quite right. The situation is dire and there won't be any redos if Trump wins.

(2,629 posts)I believe they want to weaken and destroy the Democratic party. I do not understand this irrational way of thinking because a weakened and divided Democratic party only benefits the GOP. So why are they doing, saying, promoting things and tearing-down Biden (and other party leaders) with the full knowledge that this suppresses the votes for Democrats which helps Republicans? The "Democracy Now" folks aren't very smart in their political tactics, are they?

(2,629 posts)* it's divisive and counterproductive and it only benefits the GOP, Trump, and Russia (yes, I know that's redundant).

(33,345 posts)He's not saying to expel Palestinians permanently & redevelop Gaza as a Trump resort. He's saying move the people out temporarily and finish the war with Hamas.
But in addition to that, I would just bulldoze something in the Negev, I would try to move people in there, he said. I think thats a better option, so you can go in and finish the job.
He reiterated the point a little later, saying: I do think right now opening up the Negev, creating a secure area there, moving the civilians out, and then going in and finishing the job would be the right move.
Yes, he is an idiot.

(33,345 posts)Asked by Masoud about fears on the part of Arabs in the region that the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, would not allow Palestinians who flee Gaza to return, Kushner paused and then said: Maybe.
He went on to say: I am not sure there is much left of Gaza at this point. If you think about even the construct, Gaza was not really a historical precedent [sic]. It was the result of a war. You had tribes in different places and then Gaza became a thing. Egypt used to run it and then over time different governments came in.
Responding to a question about whether the Palestinians should have their own state, Kushner described the proposal as a super bad idea that would essentially be rewarding an act of terror.

(33,345 posts)He's steeped in this Right-Wing worldview - it's all Likudniks telling him how it works. He doesn't hear many counterarguments.
He's also not 100% wrong in his facts: Egypt did use to "run it". Yes, "different Governments" came in (the PA, then Hamas).
It's his conclusions that are flawed. Move 2 million people into the Negev after "bulldozing" a refuge? Then "clean up" Gaza? A 2-state solution is "super bad" because it's "rewarding terror"?

(15 posts)This has been the plan all along. Netanyahu let Hamas attack, and escape. That paved the way for him to demolish Gaza so the Palestinians had nothing to stay for.

(6,536 posts)Or, as I often say, a three state solution. Where does this "that would be rewarding bad acts" derive from? The whole world knows that what happened was butchery. Hamas should be annihilated. But, if you have a way to establish long term peace, take it! Don't hesitate just because you wish to punish bad acts. There's a lot at stake here.
You can't tell me that that the UN or a coalition of other countries couldn't create a security state for Palestinians. Kicking out Hamas from Gaza and the WB is going to take time. It is well worth it, of course. But first, Gaza should permanently separate from Israel.
It's easy to see what is going on. Why has this little twerp suddenly opened his mouth? He has cast eyes on the beach. The Palestinians have that interesting piece of property, and he'd like to get in there. Beach front property is always more valuable than miles of rubble.
Creating a new country for the Palestinians is a "super good idea." There, fixed it for you, Jared.
How come we don't hear the filthy rich Jared talking about feeding those starving children? How come we don't hear how he's sending a hospital ship to help out? No, he has to disgust us by casting eyes upon probably the best asset Gaza possesses: the beach.
And you know that once they're kicked out of Gaza, they will not be allowed back. So, STFU, Jared, Trump Crime Family member.
