The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled on Thursday the voting machines currently used in Arkansas comply with state law, contrary to arguments by a group that sued the state to halt their use.
Thursday's ruling upheld a Pulaski County circuit courts decision from last year. That decision dismissed a lawsuit which argued that Arkansas' voting equipment doesnt give voters a sufficient chance to review and change their selections, as required by statute.
Arkansas code mandates that voting machines must permit the voter to verify in a private and independent manner the votes selected by the voter on the ballot before the ballot is cast.
The electronic voting machines in question print the voters selections onto a paper ballot, which shows the selections in writing and in the form of a barcode.

(11,107 posts)Voting occurs on an easy to use touch screen. After voting in all races, there is an opportunity to review all votes. When the voter hit the final approval button, the machine prints a paper ballot which the voter can again review (I always do). The paper ballot is then fed into a separate machine that scans and stores the paper ballot.
The system is user friendly. It provides for fast voting count and produces a paper ballot for any recount or audit.

(328 posts)But I usually use a different one when I vote early. It is a touch screen. Offers a review when all choices are made. Then it prints out on a scroll like a journal tape on an old cash register.
I wonder which one is the problem?
