O.J. SIMPSON DEAD AT 76 After Cancer Battle
Source: TMZ
O.J. Simpson -- one of the most infamous high-profile Americans of all time -- is dead after a cancer battle.
The former NFL great -- who stood trial for the double-murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in the '90s, only to be acquitted -- passed away Wednesday in Las Vegas ... this according to his family.
They say he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren when he died Wednesday night. Simpson's attorney also confirmed his death to TMZ.
O.J. had reportedly been battling prostate cancer in recent years, and his health took a turn for the worse of late -- with him landing in hospice care within the past few months.

(55,160 posts)Dealing with tech issues and the IRS has been 48 hours of hell but this is great news and I really needed it. They should bury him in a too small, leather body bag with a white Bronco leading the funeral procession. People will line up to piss on his grave. Too bad this didn't happen 30 years ago.

(12,667 posts)Hugo Chavez. He was a polarizing figure but not on par with a German Nazi mass murderer.
It's important to note that opinions on Chavez vary widely, and there are also many Venezuelans who supported him and his policies.
It's because he disposed the filthy-rich from their stolen loot and that he was a socialist that he gets a bad rep. The filthy-rich has used their stolen loot to spread so much propaganda, about him that even some smart people fall for it.

Of course the list is much, much longer when you start listing all the CIA support and actual participation in coups, torture and more, going back decades.

(13,538 posts)Its hardly "propaganda" that what was once one of the richest countries in S.A. is now THE poorest. And yes, its because of his policies of seizing foreign owned assets & not paying foreign owed bills that put the there. Where are the russian & cuban saviors? The Iranians? THATS who he cozied up to. Their policies are what he emulated.
Why do you thunk so many Venezuelans are trying to cross the border?

(22,590 posts)He was never going to face justice for the killings in his lifetime. The acquittal closed that door, locked, bolted, and sealed it, because of double jeopardy. His being dead doesn't change a thing on that score.
If there is justice beyond this earthly plane, that is a separate matter.

(15,359 posts)dumpsters in a good radius he could have been in right after the killings. It would have cost millions to do that and have dogs search the piles but they may have come up with all the evidence they needed. I'd say there is a good chance he got away from the crime scene and dumped everything at some place he was familiar with. He wouldn't want to get out and possibly be recognized just anywhere so residential garbage cans probably wouldn't work.

(3,720 posts)It was an ethnically diverse environment and everyone got along for the most part. (I'm talking some 50,000 workers over a 250-acre plant site.)
After the not guilty verdict came down, the racial divisions became stark and lasted years afterward. All whites were universally enraged, and all blacks were defiant. Some whites started occasionally using the N-word openly. The division was like the parting of the Red Sea.

who Agent Orange claimed he sent to Hawaii looking for Obama birth certificate and were finding all sorts of interesting things
Two of the phoniest scam investigations trumpeted by criminals evading justice ever.
At least Agent Orange stands a reasonable probability of having justice administered to him in short order while hes still plaguing this planet.
One of the most bothersome things about that whole spectacle of OJs trial was the prosecutors crack that at long last we have a defendant who has the resources to give us a fair fight. Uh no thats not how the system is supposed to work where the poor get steamrolled while the rich evade justice. Yet, we see that has unfortunately not changed given the degree to which Agent Orange has leveraged his Russian money to game the system in every conceivable way to delay facing justice using maneuvers and endless frivolous appeals while people of modest means, meaning all of us, would struggle to afford the costs of representation. If theres any lasting legacy from both of these spectacles it should be meaningful reforms to correct that grotesque imbalance. This can start with the courts enforcing the rules that apply to the rest of us to high profile defendants like Agent Orange as the New York courts at long last seem to be doing.

"Simpson was known for his skill as a running back for the Buffalo Bills, and also for not fitting into a glove back in 1995. Perhaps his biggest contribution to car culture, however, came from his slow-speed chase in a white Ford Bronco the year prior a chase that contributed to the death of Bronco line, and established a close link between the two household names. The Bronco and the Juice go hand in hand."
"Its fitting, then that the day of OJs death should also be a dark day for the Bronco line. No matter how much Ford has tried to separate the two, you cant really divorce the SUV from the Isotoner not-owner. If you dont believe me, go out and buy yourself a white Bronco. See how long it takes the comments to start rolling in."

(5,161 posts)One was the Buffalo Bills RB who came to our house for dinner when I was a kid (my father worked for the Bills and invited OJ over). He was nice, polite and complimentary of out home and my mother's cooking.
The other is the man who killed Nicole and her friend Ron. This man I did not recognize as the same person...he was guilty as sin but the prosecution booted the case in a big way.
As a football fan, it is the former I prefer to remember and as a human being I condemn the latter to hottest pits of hell.
