The New York City Police Department said the man, who was identified as Maxwell Azzarello from Florida, was declared dead by staff at a hospital in the area, accordiekng to NBC News.

Azzarello was seen entering Collect Pond Park in Manhattan around 1.30 p.m. on Friday, before taking out pamphlets espousing conspiracy theories and tossing them around. He subsequently doused himself in an accelerant and set himself on fire.

Fuck Trump for exploiting these people.

Of course untreated mental illness in New York penthouses and Florida mcmansions is also sad. But less tragic

Then you would really see absolutely no hope for the future. Thank God that we all here at DU see that there is only one fascist coup plotter - Donald Trump - and his allies and enablers.

By the way, regarding the talk about RFK Jr. being in the presidential race to hand the election to Trump, is there any solid evidence to support this? What would be his motives for wanting to do so? Or is it a guilt by association thing with you all, as in two crazy anti-vaxxer birds of a feather flock together? Or is it simply a case of some shadowy right wing billionaire paying RFK Jr. enough money to make it worth his while to run, as in everyone has their price?

But instead he got Fox news, Hannity, Alex Jones, Trump and the rest of the right-wing terrorist propaganda mongers.

But I'm sure they are that disappointed that he didn't go into the courthouse shooting and instead took it out on himself.

Does that sound like someone who is spouting Fox News propaganda?

From his manifesto: "In the decades since [the election of George H.W. Bush], the angry partisanship between democrats and republicans was all a fascist charade to divide the public against itself while they all ramped up militarism, privatized industry, and gutted social safety nets. Bush, Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden: These are characters playing pretend, just like professional wrestlers."

to the point of absolute reality for those who are susceptible to it?

The whole system of disinformation is designed get these types of violent results, no matter who's side you are on. I'm pointing out the originators and the ones who continue to perpetuate the propaganda and disinformation. I don't think they really care whether a liberal or right-winger sets themself on fire as long as the goal of creating havoc is reached.

To some degree it probably is, society is built on multiple hierarchies, there's always a top dog if only temporarily. He thought money created crypto and crypto bitcoin, and they were Ponzi schemes. To some degree probably true, it's the basis for double entry bookkeeping and fractional reserve banking. But without all these things, you don't have much. It is sad that he went bonkers over it.

since he was fully engulfed and they had so much trouble extinguishing the fire.

This is just sad, probably another person who fell down the rabbit hole during Covid and never managed to find his way out.

His manifesto was just generally anti government, not pro TFG, by the way. He mentioned Ponzi schemes, so maybe he got conned into investing his retirement in something like crypto and lost it all and was angry about a government that failed to protect the vulnerable from the vultures. If that was the case, I wholeheartedly agree.
