Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says the FBI has his phone after someone tried to scam him by impersonating a communication from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), raising the possibility that one of the senators phones was hacked.
My phone is in the hands of the FBI now, Graham said at the Hill & Valley Forum in remarks reported by The Washington Times. So I get a message, I think, from Schumer, it aint from Schumer, and next thing you know, my phones, I dont know what. Anything you can create apparently can be hacked.
Taylor Reidy, a spokesperson for Graham, said the possible hack is now under investigation. The Sergeant at Arms is investigating a possible hack of Sen. Grahams phone, Reidy said.
A Democratic aide said Graham should have been instantly suspicious of any text message purportedly from Schumer because the Democratic leader is known for using an old-school LG flip phone a relic from the 1990s, before texting caught on.

(16,871 posts)It's an iPhone, and when I took it to the store I was going to buy a 5G phone, they told me that it wasn't necessary. They said my phone would continue to work just fine. I was glad that I didn't have to shell out any money and besides, I just didn't want to switch phones. I like my phone just fine.

Texting has been available on mobile phones from the start, before there were flip phones.

(57,926 posts)... I've made about 10 calls out and maybe have received 10, mostly from the wife. I have no aps. I have never been able to answer it without waiting for the ringing to stop and then open the phone and call back. I haven't a clue on how to sent photos.
The only tech I spend on is high quality, highly recommended virus and anti-ad software for my one computer and my little used and out of date android.
I'd vote for Chuck for any office I could legally vote on him for, after Kamala Harris decides to run or not, he'd be a great President.

(94 posts)...unless it's running an OS that hasn't been patched for SMS vulnerabilities. Depending on how old his phone was, it may have been EOS. The other option, if it really was hacked, is that the SMS contained a payload that he clicked on.

(25,948 posts)It can happen when you are rushed an not paying attention.
I got this weird notification from FB. Said they were going to delete my page. I was on my phone and rushed at the time. I clicked the link. I got to a point where it asked for password. (Now google often does this for various access stuff etc) But I just got a hinky feeling and decided I better check it out on a computer. I'm glad I did. It was a hijack scam.
For some reason I often get weird emails and texts from my party chair. However, it's amateurs involved.
