Mike Johnson Suggests Supreme Court Intervene In Trump Hush Money Case

Source: Huff Post

May 31, 2024, 01:28 PM EDT

The Supreme Court should intervene in former president Donald Trump’s business fraud case, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Friday after Trump’s conviction.

“I do believe the Supreme Court should step in,” Johnson said in an appearance on Fox News the day after Trump was found guilty Thursday in a New York state court on 34 charges of falsifying business documents. Trump said Friday he would appeal his felony convictions, the first-ever for a former president.

“This is totally unprecedented. And it’s dangerous to our system,” Johnson said. “This is diminishing the American people’s faith in our system of justice itself. And to maintain a republic, you have to have that. People have to believe that justice is fair, that there’s equal justice under law.”

Johnson said he thought at least some of the court’s justices were worried by the case. “The justices on the court — I know many of them personally — I think they’re deeply concerned about that, as we are,” he said.

It was unprecedented that he kept all his Emoluments, all the "gifts" that were given to the U.S. during what should have been Hillary's term in office. It's all so unprecedented that they managed to get enough people to turn evil and vote for him, and, along with the rigging he was doing and Russia's help... they put a crook in the highest office of the land.

By refusing to co-operate with the Senate Judiciary in terms of addressing their lack of ethics, Roberts is making it clear he doesn't care about credibility either. They also wouldn't be deliberately and inexcusably preventing the government from bringing Trump to trial regarding January 6.

With their buddies in the Senate covering their behinds from impeachment they know they are just as untouchable as they plan to make Trump.

76. Wouldn't you rather deal with corrupt Democrats than corrupt Republicans?

I've been around the Sun a few times, corruption happens, very few of us don't have some sort of price, but it seems to me that corrupt Democrats do things less nhilistically than corrupt Republicans. Less dark. Less malevolent. Clinton's antics vs children in cages who have gone missing would be an example. Yes, sex, money and drugs are fodder for both sides of the aisle because those are connected to human needs and mistakes, but we seem to be less traitorous than they are. We believe in this country, they don't.

43. Is The Jury Verdict Reviewable?
Fri May 31, 2024, 11:08 PM

The conduct of the trial, I believe, is reviewable and that is what Trump will do - try and find areas where the trial was mismanaged. But any flaws found would have to somehow affect the outcome of the verdict, where it is nullified, leaving the prosecutor with the choice of whether to refile charges. But this is State court, which would have to be exhausted before the Federal courts get involved.

the biased, crookedness of the current USSC than for them to override a valid, by the book, lawful felony conviction at the State level.

Johnson said he thought at least some of the court’s justices were worried by the case. “The justices on the court — I know many of them personally — I think they’re deeply concerned about that, as we are,” he said.

What is this idiot thinking? What is wrong with these people?? Talk about giving the game up--why is he broadcasting this twisted thinking? So, the opposition party leader is conversing with the SC who can basically declare a trial null and void for their boy? What the hell is this? This is his version of justice? Does he plan to write their opinion for them?

We HAVE to push Biden over the top and clean up the Supreme Court AND clean out the vermin in Congress. I think the DOJ needs to crank it up and identify those traitors that participated in the attempted overthrow of our government. And that includes little Miss Ginny.

This is so appalling. I wouldn't let this man walk my dog. He's clearly a cult member and unfit for service.

This isn't over.

54. Republicans are living in a surreal world where they think they're above the law.

The way they operate is what has diminished the American people's faith in our system of justice. And this is occurring because they live in a very insular society where they can mob city hall to get what they want. They do not venture outside their protected circles so they do not realize how they do not reflect the will of the people anymore.

They do not have the authority to just jump in, and if the were to attempt to do that the justice department would be well advised to ignore them.

If any of them even attempt to overturn this one they should be impeached at first opportunity.

Good God in Butter is he stupid. As already noted about 68,351 times in this thread that this a state case in N.Y. and if it appealed it will go to the New York Court of Appeals and then taken up by the Supreme
Court of the State of New York. And the N.Y.S.C. will only take it up if there is a procedural or a State
of New York’s Constitutional issue.
