Colorado Republicans call on party chair to resign after "hateful" Pride remarks

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The push to oust the Colorado Republican Party chair following his comments on Pride Month is exposing divides within the GOP.

An email went out on Monday from party chair Dave Williams declaring, “God Hates Flags”, “God Hates Pride”, among other rhetoric demonizing the LGBTQ+ community. A post on X, formerly known as Twitter, calls for the burning of all Pride flags.

Jefferson County Republican Party chair Nancy Pallozzi sent out a letter Friday, calling on Williams to resign as state party chair immediately. Pallozzi said Williams’ comments do not reflect the attitude of the larger Colorado Republican party.

“That’s not who Republicans are,” she said. “We are caring individuals and the last one kind of took us to a point where we needed to stand up as the other leadership within the state to take charge and say enough is enough.” Pallozzi also accused Williams of creating division in the party instead of promoting unity.

when I lived in Boulder, I'm appalled that anyone thinks "God Hates Flags" is clever or amusing.

Several people were slain at Club Q not long ago because of hateful intolerance of that sort.

Although I have a little bit of hope because two things are different this year. For one, the District is much smaller after the 2020 census, and more to the poin,t much more urban. AndSecond, there is no incumbent this time. It's a long shot, but it's barely possible.

and the DEmocratic primary is between River Gassen and Joe REagan. Gassen is more progressive, but Reagan is a veteran and that's a big thing in the Springs. Both can be found on Ballotpedia and both have websites.

You can pretend all you want to know what an imaginary space psychopath thinks, but the only thing anyone can go by is what his own words have to say about the matter.

And he has nothing good to say about gay people.
