Sen. John Fetterman and wife Giselle taken to hospital after car crash in Maryland

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and his wife Giselle were hospitalized following a two-car-crash in Maryland Sunday.

Fetterman was driving a Chevrolet Traverse and struck the rear of a Chevrolet Impala on Interstate-70 in Hancock, according to a Maryland State Police spokesperson. The department said in a statement to USA TODAY that the driver of the Impala was also taken to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia.

No citations were given and that an investigation is ongoing, according to the department.

A spokesperson for the senator said in a statement to USA TODAY that the Fettermans were taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution and John was treated for a bruised shoulder. The office did not disclose Giselle's injuries.

6. I'm glad they're home and no seriously hurt

Hopefully the same is true for the driver of the other car, too. It's a shame it happened, but especially on their wedding anniversary. Hubs and I were just watching him on TV yesterday... can't remember what show, we were streaming a lot. Even hubs remembered who he was!
