Missouri attorney general to sue New York over Trump prosecutions

The Missouri attorney general, Andrew Bailey, has confirmed that he is suing the state of New York for election interference and wrongful prosecution for bringing the Stormy Daniels hush-money case to a trial that saw Donald Trump convicted of 34 felonies.
Bailey, a Republican politician appointed by Missouris governor, Mike Parson, last year, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he would be filing a lawsuit against the State of New York for their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump.
We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail. It sabotages Missourians right to a free and fair election, he added in a subsequent message.
The lawsuit is anticipated to be a series of similar actions against the New York attorney general, Letitia James, and the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, over a pair of lawsuits brought against Trump or the Trump Organization and its officers. Both resulted in findings against the defendants. Trump is appealing both cases.

(1,027 posts)is Andrew Bailey's Primary opponent is Will Scharf, a member of former Trumps legal team (but I don't know what role he plays there). It seems to me he wants to look to be as much of a Trump supporting Attorney as Mr. Scharf.

They have no dog in this hunt.
This is a direct attempt to muddle the Supreme Court's already-muddled brains.
This guy - the Missouri Attorney General - needs a new hobby.
Maybe take a few summer refresher courses at a reputable law school.
And somebody keep him out out of the QAnon websites, please.

He got his start in "hate radio" while he was here in Pittsburgh (where I live). Richard Mellon Scaife spent his inherited fortune on RW newspapers and RW broadcasting, hired Limbaugh and told him to say outrageous lies about any Democrat or liberal. This was after the "fairness doctrine" was destroyed during Reagan's time and none of us had any idea how awful this would become. The Rush Limbaugh show went nationally syndicated, and he made multi-millions. I think he's buried in Virginia, but not sure.

(12,246 posts)But venue.
If he is suing the state of New York then he is suing the wrong people, in the wrong court.
The NYAG does not handle criminal cases.
The case was handled by the city of New York in the office of the Manhattan DA.
While I also agree there is no standing. Even if it was filed in the correct venue.

(87 posts)States rights, not states rights, law and order for you not us, the rules of this game are more fluid than the Saharan dunes. We have a Constitution, we have the rights of the Federal, State, and Local governments. We know what the f*** is going on here. Either we start to push back, and push back hard or we are going to become a Christian nationalist nation and to hell with "We the People."
