Democratic Michigan congresswoman joins calls for Biden to 'step aside' as nominee
Source: Detroit News
Washington ― West Michigan U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten on Thursday called on President Joe Biden to "step aside" as the Democratic nominee for president "for the good of our democracy," becoming the first in Michigan's congressional delegation to do so.
While praising Biden's "incredible" legacy, Scholten said her top concern is about governance, saying that the American people can't "unsee" what they witnessed with Biden's performance on the debate stage two weeks ago and that she's hearing from constituents that it's shaken their confidence in his leadership.
"We just have too much at stake in this election to sit on the sidelines and be silent while we still have time to do something," Scholten told The Detroit News.
The first-term member from Grand Rapids is the first frontline member of Congress from a 2024 battleground state and the first freshman to urge the 81-year-old president to step aside, saying he should pass the torch and "allow a new leader to step up."

This happened today, not a story dragged over from earlier this week.
Leader Jeffries now saying he's going to talk to his Caucus members seems to be adding a lot of time to the resolution of this problem.

This means there are less competitive districts because the Dems are packed away.

(1,825 posts)Maybe the dumbest one yet so congrats to her. What she seems to have failed to realize, either out of complete stupidity or incompetency, is that her comments basically support the idea that not only is Biden not capable of running - he's not capable of even remaining president.
Questioning his electability is one thing - questioning his ability to lead is a fucking moronic comment.

(72 posts)Is Scholten willing to put her name for President at the Dem Convention. If not, she should shut her mouth. I'm sick of these Dem backstabbers.
