Potentially dozens of Democrats expected to call on Biden to step aside after NATO conference

Four Democratic sources with knowledge tell CBS News that they expect dozens of Democratic lawmakers over the next 48 hours to issue statements calling for President Biden to step out of the race.
The planning is coordinated, and some of the statements are pre-written, according to two sources. And it's not clear that anything Mr. Biden says in his high-stakes press conference Thursday night could redirect the expected course of events.
House Democratic leadership has indicated to members that they should speak their minds, multiple sources told CBS News. One of those well-placed sources predicted that the next three to four days will be "brutal," and that it may become untenable by sometime next week for the president to continue in the race.
Congressional leaders aren't expected to publicly speak out themselves or to attempt a forced replacement of Mr. Biden, aiming to avoid a public break with the president out of respect. But there is also a recognition, as two sources put it, that public calls from leadership would trigger stubborn opposition from the president.

(1,898 posts)4 anonymous people claiming to be lawmakers who don't support Biden also claim several other lawmakers will denounce Biden. Therefore Biden will have no choice to resign. Meanwhile, the literally hundreds of Democratic lawmakers who *publicly* support Biden don't matter at all to the media.

(8,893 posts)He is so good. This is excruciating.
But nobody will listen to us, the proletariat, on what WE want... on how much WE want Biden to continue. Biden has been as close to an FDR as this country has known since FDR. Gods, the corporates can't have that. Last time it ended up with the people having Social Security, Medicare, etc. (even tho it was incomplete, and not all people were eligible, given society at the time). Lord knows what the people would end up with if Biden is allowed to continue and be re-elected. Hell, we might even end up being able to live comfortably without bowing down to the corporate overseers. They absolutely can't have that! And, if you notice, the more the media sees and hears of those of us without money talking up Biden and supporting him, the more they rip him to pieces. JHFC, they are scared crapless. And damn the Democrats who are falling for the propaganda and playing right into Trump and the right's hands. THEY should know better than this. May the shame they're going to feel once the tyranny of trump's 2nd term takes hold follow them the rest of their lives.

p.s. now pre-written statements, those will keep dripping and dribbling in ... and will immediately be forgotten and ignored
