Top VP contender Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz no longer traveling to New Hampshire after schedule change
Source: WMUR
MANCHESTER, N.H. Minnesotas Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, who has emerged as a top contender for Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, will no longer travel to New Hampshire as originally planned, WMUR-TV has learned.
The governor's schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to New Hampshire this weekend," Teddy Tschann, a spokesman for Walz, said in a statement.
The Harris campaign could not confirm what specifically caused the governor's schedule to change.
Walz visited New Hampshire in the spring, headlining a major fundraiser for the Democratic Party. He is one of many major political names being floated as a potential key pick to join Harris on the Democratic ticket for president.

(1,977 posts)shes going to have all of them there with her at the rally. Have each of them speak and it will be a tour de force in a way the choice of VP has never been.
A winner yes, but no losers. It will be a to the 5th power selection.
Just a hunch.

Kamala can hit Trump plenty on her own, but the gravitas of Kelly's defense experience would be important to shore up the ticket and Gabby Giffords would neutralize any momentum that Dump received from the scratch on his ear.

(1,882 posts)if Kelly's resume helps put the ticket over the top more than other VP candidates would, I think they should go for it.
Defeating Dump is the most important thing since the Civil War. Then again, VP choices usually don't swing elections; nearly everyone agreed that Lloyd Bentsen was a lot better than Dan Quayle. So, I don't know the answer, but hopefully it's the best choice.

The vice president is expected to announce her pick sometime before the appearance. So NOT at the rally. I'm hoping tomorrow

(9,914 posts)So, until she has the "official" nomination, she probably won't announce a running mate.
The rules of the DNC are that all the votes have to come in and be counted, and they are due by 6:00 pm Monday.
Having said that, I think she could announce any time she pleases, but I don't know if she will get ahead of herself in that way.

(9,914 posts)I can see that I wasn't clear on that!
They don't have anything to do with VP. But they have everything to do with counting the delegate votes. And my guess is that Harris was waiting until she "officially" had the certified delegate votes (certified by the DNC), before she felt the nomination was "official". At that time she would announce her VP pick. I think it's part of being a sort of institutionalist at heart. 💙

j/k I am well aware that only a human being who will be 35 or older on 20 Jan can be a VP pick.

(2,152 posts)Because I would walk over broken glass and hot coals to vote for a stale ham sandwich, if that's what the Democrats nominate.
Disagreements and divisions are a luxury reserved for primaries. In a general election where it's democracy vs. fascism, I will vote for democracy, no matter who, no matter what.
