Trump warns "very bad" Google may be "shut down"

Donald Trump unleashed a tirade against Google during a Friday interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, accusing the platform of refusing to apologize for blocking some results related to his attempted assassination.
In the segment, in which Trump attempted to outline the dangers of AI before Bartiromo redirected him to the subject of big tech companies, Trump went after the search engine.
Noting that Facebook representatives called him to apologize for flagging some posts featuring photos of his assassination attempt with fact checks, Trump said, Google, nobody called from Google, before unloading on the tech company.
In the rant, slammed by the Harris campaign as unintelligible, Trump seemingly, though not clearly, accused the search engine of biased search result ranking, a complaint he espoused nearly six years ago.

Trump goes on unintelligible rant: Google, nobody called from Google. One of the things like doing a show like yours, your show, you know, you see it on Fox, but when you really see it is all over the place, they take clips of your show that you're doing right now with me and if I do a good job, they're gonna vote for me, they're gonna vote for me because it's not just on Fox, it's on Fox is a smaller part of it. You're on all over this, those little beautiful cell phones you're on, you're all over the place. You have a product, you have a great product. You have a great brand. So you have to get out, you have to get out, you have to do things like your show and other shows and Google has been very bad. They've been very irresponsible and I have a feeling that Google is gonna be close to shut down

But to the media, that gobbledygook is normal and acceptable discourse, and not subject to any criticism at all, let alone considered "dementia", or some other armchair diagnosis that they insisted upon for 3 weeks, 24/7 with respect to Biden.

(129 posts)What exactly was Google supposed to block? Its still clear that in spite of his rhetoric about Project 2025 not being his agenda, DonOLD is still wanting to shut down any media source that doesnt kiss his fat, nasty, WEIRD ass.

(12,626 posts)Authoritarian regimes are so awful for economic growth.
They react on whims. Entire companies are crushed if they don't bend the knee to the dear leader.
So, Facebook is loving all the Russian troll money they are getting for letting Russia propagandize to their customers. Leave it to the filthy-rich Zuckerberg to know whose ass to kiss.
But Google is out because they are providing reality based reesults? What, didn't they rig searches enough for Pedo Trump to look less weird? Did they not take Russian propaganda money?
It's all weird nonsense based on the King's whims.

(360 posts)..."unintelligible" has no punch.
Replace unintelligible with "idiotic" or other simpler, well known insulting word.
Bring it down to eight grade level, almost playground words Democratic operatives.
However, WELL DONE in general. Keep up the good work, just don't get cute or use words with more than three syllables.

(169,268 posts)because the harshest words have been "normalized" and the media have subsequently sensitized people to those terms, so the stronger terms are ignored or dismissed as "hubris".
That is why "weird" worked because it came out of left field and gave us a way to isolate and identify the GOP's whole shtick, behavior, and talking points, as "abnormal" and an "odd sideshow".

...they want a fascist state...
...it's hard to explain the demise of credible news and reporting other than money...it's all political hackdom...
...if it was up to me, something would be close to 'shut down' but it wouldn't be Google...
