Former President Donald Trump says he has agreed to an offer from ABC News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on Sept. 10. Trump said so during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club on Thursday.

Harris also confirmed her participation in the debate.

Trump previously said he had been willing to go toe-to-toe with President Joe Biden and agreed to ABC's first invitation issued in May.

However, after Biden dropped out of the race last month and Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee, Trump had implied he would not debate Harris on ABC. Harris has accused Trump of "running scared" and trying to back out of the debate.

on Fox, NBC, and ABC. I believe he said ABC wouldn’t happen until the end of September, but maybe I misheard or he misspoke.

He had originally agreed to a CNN and ABC debate and has been trying to get out of the ABC one since Biden dropped out, and has now been trying to create something that he can control.

10. You have to remember Trump's #1 goal

The main reason he's running for President and is so desperate to get back in the White House is to avoid going to prison.

If he fails he's facing more criminal prosecutions and possible financial ruin because of the hundreds of civil cases filed against him.

There's nothing he won't do or say to become President again. The next 3 months is going to make Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns look tame.

And like President Biden said if Trump loses he won't agree to a peaceful transfer of power. We may not be truly free from this fascist criminal's reign of terror until January of 2025.

Harris campaign must demand a new rule change for any future debate. Since Trump lies like a human breathes, either moderators should fact check Trump's falsehoods in real time or Harris be given extra time for fact checking before she starts her rebuttal.

He's reduced to only feinting and countering to avoid the hits he's been pummeled with over this summer. His campaign shows no indication of taking any initiative anymore, and looks to be spending all of its time reacting and trying to play catch-up (or play ketch-up, depending on the mood he's in and if his gourmet meal was original or extra-spicy).

The consolidator polls are the average of all polls, such as Realclearpolitics. I believe there are 3 of those and all of them have Harris ahead at least slightly. But you are right that some of the individual polls still show Trump with a slim lead while one today shows Harris ahead by 6 points - I'm not on board with that one yet. I say that because the difference in energy levels right now is massive and that translates into crowd size and eventually votes.

I think this is more desperate posturing.

Regardless of VP Harris decline (or if she ignores it), Trump and Fox will pretend their debate is on. Big set up. Empty podium. Key is their earlier date. They will sell it as she backed out.

Then Orange Foolius cancels the following week as retribution- negating his ABC cancellation and their empty podium plans. He doesn't want to debate. As delusional as he is, i think he knows that he risks extreme failure.

If it goes, ABC fact checking is going to eviscerate him. VP Harris should be ready to work the liar angle (to sync up to what the public is seeing). Rump is the biggest liar in history. It just never stops. How can anybody trust anything he says? He is the supposed Billionaire with all the bankruptcies and he is ALWAYS begging for more money.

If he shows up for ABC debate without Fox, then Trump is desperate and needs to win. If he is cooking up another coup plan and only needs to stay close, then he might not think he needs any debates. I am convinced one of the reasons Trump is soo sure he was robbed in 2020 is that he had his own cheating plan. Something happened. It did not work or it wasn't enough. Thus he thinks he was out cheated. Always projection with that troll.

VP Harris need to make the case that only she can end the lies and hate. She is the only one who can move us toward a new future. Time to turn the page and GET ON WITH IT.
