Donald Trump Says He Will Flee to Venezuela if He Loses Election
Source: Newsweek
During his interview with billionaire Republican donor Elon Musk, presidential candidate Donald Trump said they could "meet next time in Venezuela" if he loses November's election.
"If something happens with this election, which would be a horror show, we'll meet the next time in Venezuela, because it'll be a far safer place to meet than our country," Trump said to Musk. "OK, so we'll go. You and I will go, and we'll have a meeting and dinner in Venezuela."
Trump had been alleging that Venezuela is releasing violent criminals from its jails and sending them to the United States as illegal immigrants, thereby reducing its own crime rate.

(35,043 posts)He wants us to think he's not planning a coup ... but of course there will be a coup attempt and it will fail. By then it's going to be too late for him to flee anywhere.
For the record, he'd never go to Venezuela. It's too hot and they don't speak English there. It's a shithole country with no golf courses. But then you could say the same about Russia. Russia is too cold, but everything else is true.
Chump is signaling that he already knows he's going to lose the election. The minions (and Proud Boys) will be notified, the coup is on. "Stand back, stand by."
Venezuela has golf courses. As in plural. Caracas has several all by itself.

America will be full of Venezuela's dangerous immigrants and that Venezuela will be safe and empty because all of their dangerous people are now in the US.
He said that in his RNC acceptance speech:
He's being facetious. "Might as well move to Venezuela. It will be better than here".
I know it doesn't make sense. It's just BS. He's not fleeing.
He's just playing to his base.
It's no different than when some A-hole in Texas files a bill to "cede from the US". It's just a vanity ploy to the base.

(1,213 posts)If I were Bragg, I'd ask the judge for an immediate hearing to get him sentenced because now he's a self-declared flight risk.
Even a hearing on it will put TSF in a tizzy. Not that he'd be scared it will happen to him (he doesn't know fear, really), but that he'll be so ticked off that someone dared to tell him where he could or couldn't go that the ketchup will be flying. Then he'll start saying even worse and dumber things that will shrink his support come November.
Every vote we turn away from him, be it to vote instead for Harris (yay!), sitting out the vote entirely (well, okay), or skipping the POTUS race at the top of the ballot (ugh, but it'll do), is a plus for Harris.

(2,202 posts)was "president," but he could have a change of heart.
He would still be close enough to the US that he could still feel relevant in his little pea brain. Plus, apparently, Cuba is getting a lot of tourists these days from Russia and China:
HAVANA, June 10 (Reuters) - Russian tourist Serguei Boyaryshnic wandered in awe among the pastel-colored buildings and cobblestone streets of Old Havana on a weekday morning, his family in tow.
"We had heard a lot about Cuba. Our countries have been friends for years," said the 36-year-old Moscow resident, who had joined a small tour group. "We love everything about it."
Cuba has recently begun offering perks to entice visitors like Boyaryshnic from allied countries such as Russia and China as it struggles to revive a stagnant tourism sector still struggling to recover from the pandemic.
That has meant more and sometimes direct flights from Russia and China, the elimination of visa requirements for Chinese visitors and Cuba's recent decision to accept Russia's Mir payment cards, one of only a handful of countries to join Moscow's alternative to Visa and Mastercard.
That strategy has paid early dividends.
More than 66,000 Russians visited the Caribbean island in the first three months of the year, state-run Cuban media reported, double that of the same period in 2023. The Russian visitors are one of Cuba's few tourism bright spots, however.

Trump is a convicted felon to be sentenced in a month and hes talking about fleeing to a country that refuses US extradition requests, observed MSNBC legal analyst Kristy Greenberg, a former SDNY Criminal Division Deputy Chief. Anyone else would be in jail. Trump is showing yet again that he isnt amenable to Probations supervision and must be sentenced to jail time.
There are countries where TFG could flee which do not have an extradition treaty with the US

Perhaps if the current opposition are declared the winner's of the disputed election (which looks unlikely - the government still hasn't released the detailed results, and is promising to use an "iron fist" against opponents), they might allow him in. But they wouldn't need to.

(2,326 posts)If Venezuela is actively trying to lower its crime rate by expelling criminals, allowing one with 34 felony convictions to enter the country doesn't seem consistent with their strategy.
Of course, we have that premise of expelling criminals from TSF himself, so not a reliable source by any means.

1. First take his passport and monitor his movements - pending litigation of all his legal trials.
2. Put a hold on his assets - foreign and domestic.
3. Because he had exposure to our highest security secrets - they can seek the ultimate remedy to protect vital interests.
Now if the government allows him to leave - he must take his family with him and as many of the MAGA trial willing to go, especially Stephen Miller.
