Donald Trump's Asking Barron for Advice on Young Voters, Ex-Official Says
Source: Newsweek
By Mandy Taheri
Former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney says Donald Trump is turning to his youngest son, Barron, for advice on attracting support from younger voters in his presidential campaign.
Mulvaney, NewsNation contributor and former Republican politician, told a Tuesday evening panel on the network that the former president is seeking input from his 18-year-old son on the mindset of voters his age and how to garner their support.
Barron Trump is the former president's only child with former first lady Melania Trump. He is increasingly getting more involved in his father's political scene, having received a standing ovation at a campaign rally in July. Previously not in the public political eye, Barron is still much more removed than some of Trump's other children, like Donald Jr. and Eric.
Weeks after his public political debut in July, Gen Z political influencer Bo Loudon called Barron one of his "best friends," in a post praising his father, the GOP presidential candidate.

(24,924 posts)Granted, he'd have been about 10 at the time, so it's hard to flush out how that works today.
But, the article also said he's always been closer to his father in his very early years than either Jr. or Eric
So, it could be legitimate that he likes his father -- Don and Eric is just about the grift

(3,560 posts)Thats fucking stupid. That boy doesnt, and wont know shit about actual young people. Hes been sheltered from the real world (private and/or boarding schools, anyone? ), pampered and spoiled. So, he only knows people from other rich assholes who are just like his siblings and father.

(5,482 posts)I have NO problem heaping criticism and ridicule on Don Jr and Eric, or on Ivanka, because they have proven themselves to be shitty adults and deserve it.
But Barron is yet to grow into his shittiness, and I really hope he doesn't. He may turn out to be the one who can redeem the Trump name ('redeem' in the sense that there must have been SOME ancestor in the Trump line who possessed some decent qualities).

(53,194 posts)John Trump is the only member of that family who DIDN'T turn out bad. He's Fred Trump's brother, meaning he's Barron's great-uncle. He decided not to get into the family business (you know, being a career criminal) and instead went into electrical engineering. He invented quite a few really good things in the field of ultra high voltage electricity.

My guess is IF Barron is truly enrolled in a college, the media will glom to him to get the real story. Until now, he's been protected by private schools. In a college, it's hard to hide.

I just wish Barron Trump could fall off an ocean liner or something, and learn to become a real person.

(1,213 posts)Would have the faintest clue what normal young adults care about or worry about.
Do tell us about having to choose a college close to where your parents live, because you can't afford both tuition and room and board, too, even with the pittance of financial aid.
Tell us all about having to juggle your classes so that you can take as few public transit trips as possible, because Mommy and Daddy can't buy you a car and can't even let you use theirs because they need it to get to work.
Tell us all about having to work at a crappy minimum wage job all summer, simply to afford your textbooks.
Tell us about the work-study job you take to afford the next semester's books. At least with that job you can usually get some studying done.
Tell us about the parties you can't attend because you're too busy working yet another part-time job.
Tell us about never once going to one of your college's athletic events because you're either working, or cannot afford the tickets, even with a student discount. Only the rich kids can do that these days.
Tell us about the nights you're too tired to breathe, even, but you're finally home from college, your two jobs and a two hour bus ride, but still have papers to write for classes the next day, and another couple of calculus problems to complete.
When you know what that's like, then you can tell us what matters to young people.
Until then, piss off, you spoiled POS.

Has he ever changed his strategy? It's been the same playbook for 8 years.
If he asks for "advice," what he really wants is just for somoene to tell him that what he's already doing is perfect because he's the smartest person alive.
