Paxton sues Biden administration over transgender worker protections

Texass Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration again over federal workplace protections for transgender employees. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court against the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Justice Department (DOJ), argues that agency guidelines clarifying what constitutes harassment under federal law are unlawful and asks the court to permanently block them.
The EEOC guidelines, which are not legally binding, state that denying employees accommodations based on their gender identity including intentionally misgendering transgender workers or denying them access to restrooms that match their gender identity is unlawful workplace harassment.
The opposite is true, Paxton, along with the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, wrote in Thursdays lawsuit. The Biden-Harris Administration is attempting yet again to rewrite federal law through undemocratic and illegal agency action. This time, they are unlawfully weaponizing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in an attempt to force private businesses and States to implement transgender mandatesand Texas is suing to stop them, Paxton said in a statement.
Thursdays complaint was filed in the Northern District of Texass Amarillo Division, where U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, an appointee of former President Trump, hears nearly all cases. Kacsmaryk last month rejected Paxtons request to block an earlier version of the EEOC guidance, ruling that a new complaint needed to be filed.

(15,524 posts)mighty middle class. I've been nickel and dimed nearly to death. For example, I should be doing better financially than I ever have before, but I have over $10K in HEALTH CARE DEBT. Just went to the store and got five bags of groceries and the cost was $245. That's down, but we're still getting gouged.
In the meantime, the company that manages my PITI on my mortgage payments neglected to project a higher property tax bite due to Colorado overturning it's Gallagher Amendment (too wonky, but the bottom line is residential property owners will owe more in property taxes). But these idiots didn't project that and the result of that was an escrow shortfall, which drove my monthly mortgage payment UP by nearly $200 per month. I told the agent that the escrow people at his company clearly had a rectal-cranial insertion problem, but I still have to suck it up and pay $200 more a month for the effing mortgage.
OK..................that's enough rant, I guess, but what mystifies me is why this asshole thinks I even care which restroom a transgender person uses.
I'll tell you, I would never, NEVER, EVER move to Texas. Never ever. All those stories about women bleeding out in bathrooms because of idiotic ideologue asholes like Paxton, who SHOULD by all rights be in prison.
Seriously, what a hateful, hate-filled lawsuit. They care more about this shit that the economy, that's for sure.
