Vance says Trump would veto a national abortion ban

Source: NBC News

Aug. 24, 2024, 6:30 PM EDT

Ohio Sen. JD Vance, former President Donald Trump’s running mate, on Saturday said Trump would veto a federal abortion ban if a bill were to be passed by Congress.

Asked on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” about GOP lawmakers like South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham who would want to see Trump advocate for and pass an abortion ban, Vance told moderator Kristen Welker that Trump has “explicitly” said he would veto a ban.

“I mean, if you’re not supporting it, as the president of the United States, you fundamentally have to veto it,” Vance argued.

The latest position from the Trump campaign comes as the former president has changed his position on abortion policy over the years.

#1 -- 98% of everything Trump says is a lie.

#2 -- 95% of everything Vance says is a lie.

#4 -- Kamala is going to win, so its a moot point.

Trump is on both sides of the abortion issue. This is one of the more dishonest and manipulative campaign stunts there has ever been. Democrats need to lean in on this.

When your court appointees will effectively ban or make it very difficult for many to obtain reproductive health services (it's more than just abortion, it's the morning after pill and fertility services also).

But it is hard to tell.
Most politicians shift their stances and stories.
But he can't deny that he made the comment that he was "responsible" for Roe versus Wade being dismantled by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court ruling had national implications.

In either case, we are dealing with two flim-flam men, Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance.
It is extremely hard to believe anything either one says, especially this close to the election, but it was hard to do that before also.
