Trump campaign staff had altercation with official at Arlington National Cemetery

Two members of Donald Trump’s campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery where the former president participated in a wreath laying ceremony, NPR has learned.
A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members are authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.
When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source.
Trump participated in an event to mark the third anniversary of a deadly attack on U.S. troops in Afghanistan as U.S. forces withdrew from the country; 13 U.S. service members were killed in the attack. The Trump campaign has blamed President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democratic presidential nominee, for the chaotic withdrawal.

Often a lifted eyebrow or clenched jaw and, for extreme dramatic effect and screen presence, a seething glare. I give you every top paid live camera desk jockey of the current millennia. From the up-and-coming bright neo-liberal star of the moment to the thoroughly disgusted-and-tried-and-true Hannity wannabe du jour.

News corporations, decades ago, realized that punctuation, especially the dramatically impactful and "hard-hitting" sort, was valuable to ratings and their bottom lines. We are observing that stage of news broadcast where the facts about the daily happenings in our world are relegated to the back seat, upstaged by presentation and, thus, the presenters with their predictable facial expressions which are so disingenuous, they're laughable. But then, we are, at best, a vapid crowd of hero starved and sexy-spin seeking sheep, arguing and fretting about the contradictions and other scripted drivel spewing from the mouths of animated celebrity mannequins set to pose for the highest bidders.

The lead up to the withdrawal is hardly ever mentioned, but if the death of the troops was because of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, point a finger at traitor. He agreed to a plan doomed to failure, because, everything he does is a failure.

No one has ever done more to destroy the image of The United States of America to the world. Each time it seems as if he has to have reached the furthest depths of chronic misconduct and flagrant disrespect drills down even further. I hope he digs himself to hell as soon as possible and finds he is despised there as well. And I hope he lands hard enough on his frigging raised thumb up his ass that he can never extract it.

Performative art and theatrical renditions of love for country are all it takes for trDUMP to convince AmeriKKKa to vote for him during his Reality TV Presidential campaign.
Pulling fast ones on the voters to win their votes is what Team trDUMP is all about.

I imagine he has a commercial planned that shows how much sympathy he has and say it wouldn't have happened under him.

In December the last month of trDUMP's 4 year term - he abd Pompeo set up a trap for Biden who was soon to be inaugurated.
1 ) Team trDump pulled 35,000 American troops out - leaving a skeleton crew of 2,500 remaining soldiers.
2.) Team trDUMP released 5,000 of the nastiest extremist Taliban from military lock ups. Did not include the new government of Afghanistan in the release decision. And by no surprise these 5,000 Muslim extremists over powered the newly trained Afghan military in less than one week.
3.) Much of the American military equipment was disabled or destroyed under orders of trDUMP. So the Afghan soldiers had no way to defend the country from the Taliban once trDump released them - (5K).
4.) With the American troop drawdown so rapidly to 2,500 soldiers - they could do nothing to help the Afghan army maintain stability against the Taliban take over. The small contingent of US troop trDUMP and Pompeo left could only maintain order at the main airport trying to get embassy officials and US citizen out of Afghanistan. It was a race against time to evacuate before the Taliban took over the airport too.
5.) To compound the situation on the ground dyring the exit from Afghanistan trDump and Pompeo refused to communicate the withdrawal plans made by trDUMP/Pompeo or fill them in about the situation of the ground during the administration transition phase -during the two and one half months between the election and Biden's inauguration.
trDUMP and Pompeo shafted Biden by intentionally leaving his administration in the blind so they could set Biden up for failure.
Then blame Biden because the Afghan draw down did not go smoothly. But 90% of the troop draw down logistics was planned and executed by Team trDUMP.
trDUMP now hated Biden because Biden won the 2020 election. trDUMP wanted Biden to fail and look very incompetent so trDUMP set up booby traps for Team Biden to get tangled up in. While trDUMP gloated and rejoiced at Biden's supposed ineptitude.
trDUMP is unequivocal and absolute human scum. Playing Fascist games with American national security and the wellbeing of our military soldiers. Just another act of treason by trDUMP with an utter lack of deference for American domestic or international stability.

The military I see are honor guards for burials.
I can't remember whether the person who gives directions is military or not.

(6,177 posts)If there is enough evidence to identify the individuals who pushed a government official then they should be criminally charged. If more done by more than one go with the conspiracy charge, which gives the government a chance to add twenty years to any other conviction provided they get convicted of conspiracy. I normally am against heavy handed enforcement, but MAGA and GOP disrespect for rules and towards our government needs to be prosecuted when things like fraud or assault happen.

Even MSNBC didn't have a segment on it this morning.
Contrast that with what we know would have happened if a Democratic Candidates campaign staff had a PHYSICAL and VERBAL confrontation with Arlington Cemetary officials, while disgustingly turning our war dead into political footballs.
The FUCKING media would have broken into the FUCKING Super Bowl in a tied game during the 4Th quarter, and wouldn't have returned to live coverage of the game until Chuck Todd held a Focus Group with Beaver County, PA Hayseeds to discuss this (obviously disqualifying act for ANY Democrat, from Presidential Candidate to Dogcatcher) event.
They would delay the debut of their entire fall season, because there would not be enough time in a 24/7/365 world for them to tie this deplorable, disgusting act to the entire Democratic Party.
Hell, they'd probably lobby the United States Navy's Master Clock for an extra 10th of a second that they could devote to this.

Do any of the media complainers really know anything about the media? I don't mean picking up the newspaper or reading the NYT online. I mean working in the media and knowing what's involved in putting together a paper. What goes into the process of vetting and editing stories each day? I suspect not. (FYI, I worked at a major metropolitan daily paper for over 35 years.)
And I still find it unbelievable that more people here seem to complain more about CNN than Fox. Your REAL enemy is Fox and the right-wing media. Especially Fox, which is despicable in so many ways starting with their name that boldly uses "news" in their title but which is everything but. Not only that, but the way they twist their "news". Remember, they were fined a record amount for LYING. And there's still another case yet to be settled.

Setting up a situation for a story based on what WE think happened is not proof of anything. If this story was THAT big and if reporters on the scene found the proof, it would have been reported. Your whole conspiracy logic for the media is woefully inaccurate, to put it mildly.
To me, it appears there are seven degrees of confirmation in today's journalism stories. Some stories are written with the flimsiest degree of proof (Fox especially). Others rely on the traditional journalism standard of heavy proof using multiple sources. Which is the way it should be. Reporters' stories don't tell you everything about the process of reporting. Different media sources work differently. And reporters GENERALLY (unless they're working for a stupid place like Fox) know what they're doing.
