Citing court ruling, Missouri Secretary of State decertifies abortion amendment from Nov. 5 ballot
Source: KSHB
Mondays decision by Ashcroft to decertify the petition did not immediately appear to impact the Missouri Supreme Courts review of the petition scheduled for Tuesday.
The case is before the Missouri Supreme Court, and they have jurisdiction, not Jay Ashcroft. We are confident the court will order the secretary of state to keep Amendment 3 on the ballot so that Missourians can vote to end Missouris abortion ban on Nov. 5, Rachel Sweet, campaign manager for Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, said in a statement.

(20 posts)...senior counsel (for the Thomas More Society) Mary Catherine Martin released the following statement.
"We will not allow Missourians to be deceived into signing away dozens of current laws that protect the unborn, pregnant women, parents, and children," she said.
That is deception and it's paternalistic. She is saying their organization doesn't trust the citizens of Missouri to understand the words written on a ballot. I don't see her saying, the Missouri public is too stupid to vote for any other thing that is currently on that ballot.
What makes this different?
On edit: What specific current laws does Missouri actually have to feed their poor kids, or fund their education department?

Not sure which is worse. Both are weaponizing the judiciary and the law.
Think Texas is winning this race.
We live in disgusting times surrounded by disgusting ruthless people.

(1,449 posts)He and his siblings were horrible, and I never babysat for them again. IMHO he has not changed one iota in all these years. An insufferable jerk then, and today he's a truly disgusting human being. He does not make the final decision about what goes on the ballot, the Missouri Supreme Court does. He got voted out in the primary in his run for governor, and he's trying to still be relevant. NOT WORKING!

(1,449 posts)You know, the waterboarding guy during W's administration. Don't remember about Clarence Thomas, but wouldn't put it past John Ashcroft.
So tired of all the idiots here in Missouri! The good news is that Missouri voters didn't choose Jay Ashcroft in the primary for Governor's race. Some progress at least!
