International Criminal Court issues arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister

Source: CNN

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Netherlands-based court said it found “reasonable grounds” to believe that Netanyahu bears criminal responsibility for war crimes including “starvation as a method of warfare” and “the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”

It rejected Israel’s challenge of the court’s jurisdiction over the matter.

See the June 2024 David Hoffman The Hill article, "US recognition of a Palestinian state could change everything", at https://thehill.com/opinion/international/4718181-us-recognition-of-a-palestinian-state-could-change-everything/ , saying that if

"the United States were to recognize a Palestinian state, it would be a political tsunami that would likely topple Netanyahu’s extremist government, as a majority of Israelis are clamoring for... With a likely cease fire, the return of hostages, and prospects of a regional rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia... It would be the bold, decisive act that would secure President Biden’s place in history."

So, here are links for you to contact Joe Biden and Kamala Harris:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/share/

https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/vicepresident/

Here's even a short template for you (tweak as you will):

"Dear President Biden [or Vice President Harris], please have the White House immediately officially recognize the State of Palestine, as the Vatican did in 2015. This may help bring justice for Palestine, relieve Israel of the burden of occupation, and create goodwill for America leading to the release of the seven U.S. hostages, and hopefully all hostages, in Gaza. You would be courageous and right to create Mideast justice and get back our hostages now, rather than leave it to Donald Trump's questionable competence.
Thank you,
Sincerely, [you]"

Palestinian human rights organizations have called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Palestinian man in a Hamas detention center in the Gaza Strip.
Mohammed al-Sufi, a 43-year-old Muslim preacher from Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, died hours after he was detained by Hamas police officers last Wednesday.
Sources in the Gaza Strip said Sufi was known for his criticism of Hamas leaders and their ties to Iran. The sources said that in recent sermons he criticized Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and other Hamas leaders for boasting of their close relations with Iran.
Sufi’s family said he was detained shortly after his return to the Gaza Strip from Egypt, together with his son Abdullah.

The ball is in their court. Hamas is in charge. Renouncing violence and returning the hostages is the only way. They learned nothing from Gandhi, Mandela, or King. Their playbook calls for the destruction of Israel.

Founded as an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Its 1988 founding charter, steeped in Sunnī Islamist rhetoric, calls for jihad to take all of historical Palestine, resulting in the destruction of the State of Israel.

Abbas’s term ended 15 years ago or so.

I don't believe we will ever see any more elections in the territories, when Abbas dies I think a civil war will break out amongst the clans, fighting for control of Fatah.

There is so much antisemitism in the UN I wouldn't be surprised if they vote to "create" a Palestinian country, but it's won't have any legitimacy, because it will represent just another attempt to ignore UNSCR 242/338.

9. Official ICC Statement on the Arrest Warrants
Thu Nov 21, 2024, 09:38 AM
Nov 2024

The ICC did not provide the arrest warrant as a public-facing document, but issued the following statement:

"The Chamber issued warrants of arrest for two individuals, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr. Yoav Gallant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024, the day the Prosecution filed the applications for warrants of arrest."

"The arrest warrants are classified as ‘secret’, in order to protect witnesses and to safeguard the conduct of the investigations."

Any nation that is a signatory to the ICC has an obligation to execute these arrest warrants.

The US, India, Indonesia, and China are not state parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (Rome Statute),[1] which founded the ICC in 2002.

These two PIFWCs can therefore safely travel to those four countries without fear of being detained.

Nota Bene: SC Jack Smith completed an assignment at the ICC prosecuting PIFWCs (Persons Indicted For War Crimes) before investigating #45.

I do not excuse Netanyahu for his actions but I still wonder what. Gaza would be like if Hamas hadn’t given Netanyahu a gold-plated excuse to do his worst.

The victim is trying to get an outside group to investigate because of the influence of Khan.

How do you suppose this helps Palestinians?

One of Netanyahus cabinet members thinks they should annex Gaza and WB as a response, that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Have people given any thought about why Israel keeps moving to the right?

MG Yair Golan (Ret) is intensely curious how a ceasefire can be reached with LH, but not with Hamas to get the hostages home.

BTW: Lahav 433 questioned Netanyahu's Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman for over five hours regarding the PM on 7 Oct 2023.

Israeli leaders from across the political spectrum united to condemn the decision by a three-judge panel of the international criminal court to issue arrest warrants for the prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the former defence minister Yoav Gallant.

Netanyahu’s office described the warrants as “an antisemitic decision … equivalent to the modern Dreyfus trial”, referring to the 1894 trial of a French artillery captain of Jewish descent that has become one of the most prominent examples of antisemitism.

Netanyahu added: “Israel rejects with disgust the absurd and false actions and charges against it by the international criminal court, which is a biased and discriminatory political body.”

Lucky for us, our side has cancelled the arms deal and denied any more arms to Israel. We are sending more money to the enemies of Israel so they can defend themselves against the Middle East bully. If Trump had not won, our representatives in congress would have made "river to the sea" a done deal and brought peace to the region with Israel gone!

"Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday thanked his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán for his show of “moral clarity” after inviting him to visit despite an ICC arrest warrant.

“Faced with the shameful weakness of those who stood by the outrageous decision against the right of the State of Israel to defend itself, Hungary” is “standing by the side of justice and truth”, Netanyahu said in a statement the day after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him and his former defence minister.

Netanyahu’s office also published what they said was a letter from Orban sent on Friday, in which he said he was shocked to learn of the ICC’s “shameful” move."

70 year old white Jewish male here, went to Hebrew School, was Bar Mitvahed, donated to Israel growing up - NO MORE. I am an American FIRST. NOW, Israel is an apartheid state, the Ultra-Orthodox are racist, misogynistic POS, and Netanyahu and his followers/clique, as well as being ordinary criminals, are war criminals and guilty of crimes against humanity. Just as much as Goering, Goebbels, and Eichmann, and Netanyahu should expect to end up the same way. The phrase "a good Israeli" will end up bearing the same shame as "a good German." And I am afraid that with the incoming American Fuhrer, we will all own the shame of being "a good American," assuming of course that those of us who dare to oppose him might be rounded up.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/11/22/germany-wont-arrest-netanyahu-nazi-history/

"Germany has suggested that it will not arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if he travels to the country because of its Nazi history.

...

A number of European countries, including the UK, have said they will respect the ICC’s decision.

But a spokesman for Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, suggested the country would not carry out such an arrest due to its history and unique relationship with Israel.

...

Guido Crosetto, Italy’s defence minister, told RAI television on Thursday: “We would have to arrest them.”

He added that it was not a political choice but that Italy was bound as a member of the ICC to act on the court’s warrants."

Interesting.

Hungarian PM Viktor Orban is acting the part of a RW strongman supporting another RW strongman with his defiant invitation of Netanyahu. Life for the Roma of Hungary is described as "hell." Orban may as well as invite Vladimir Putin, Jair Bolsonaro, and Donald Trump for a summit that would be a 21st century "Pact of Blood."

British citizen Karim Khan KC is the ICC prosecutor on assignment at the Hague.

Germany is Israel's most important intelligence partner after the US and both Berlin and Jerusalem enjoy flourishing trade. Israel imports German-made cars, for example. See charts at bottom.

Regarding Italy, their intelligence relationship with Israel has only recently coalesced relative to Germany.

Economically, the Palestinian Territories imported more Israeli products than Italy before the war, but Italy exports oil to Israel.

Importantly, Italy has 1,000 soldiers in UNIFIL who have been endangered several times. Italian peacekeepers were wounded a few months ago by a reported IDF attack which Rome strongly condemned. Yesterday, four Italian soldiers were wounded by rocket fire allegedly fired by Lebanese Hezbollah or their affiliates. UNIFIL is investigating.

Too bad the "We the Petition" portal at whitehouse.gov was eliminated. VPOTUS Joe Biden watched Barack Obama launch it years ago.

100,000 signatures within 30 days would have received an official response from the White House on a policy issue Americans find crucial. Piecemeal emails may still be sent to the White House. Please see link below:
