Congress Seeks To Double US Funding Of Anti-Missile Cooperation With Israel

Source: Times of Israel

In wake of Pillar of Defense success, Iron Dome spending may balloon from $210 million to $680 million

December 13, 2012

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Congress wants to at least double the Obama administration’s funding request for anti-missile cooperation with Israel.

Obama asked Congress for $99.9 million in 2013 for “Israel co-operative programs,” which include programs like the long-range Arrow anti-missile system and the short-range David’s Sling.

The US House of Representatives version of the National Defense Authorization Act, passed earlier this year, recommended adding $168 million to that request, and the Senate recommended adding $100 million in its own National Defense Authorization Act, passed last week.

A letter sent Wednesday by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and James Inhofe (R-Okla.) to the top senators on the Armed Services Committee urges them to agree to the higher House increase in the bicameral conference talks that finalize the act.

wasteful spending. It has nothing to do with defending this country. So Congress is calling another country our interest. Why don't we just make it a territory or another state! This is in our budget ever since Israel was created. Maybe Israel should pay us. What do we get from Israel in return?

Many Jewish multi-millionaire's, claim dual citizenship both in Israel and their land-of-birth. They also maintain property/estates in both countries and their children serve the mandatory military service within Israel.
I know this to be true as I know and have met many Jewish families who live within Europe and the USA that this applies.

What concerns me is the example of casino owner Adelstein puts millions into corrupting the US elections, Joe Lieberman, pushes for more funds to support Israel. Then they complain about being overtaxed in the US. There are enough billionaire/millionaire Jews throughout the World along with the individual Israeli citizens who could provide the cost of defending Israel with moral support from the US, that wouldn't cripple our own peoples.

I do not mean this to be offensive and if I am sorry, I am totally open to learn something new.

Without Iron Dome, Israel could have felt under assault to the degree that it would deploy a stronger response that would only escalate the situation. Of course no one knows what might have happened.

Nothing in the world is perfect. But as far as military spending goes, I see Iron Dome as an instrument of peace and an important investment in stability. It shoots down missiles and isn't used to aim them at the people.

All other spending that goes to Israel, I'm not too sure about so I need to do more research. But I do support Iron Dome.

think Israel needs the U.S. protection after doing a little research on the subject. We even have troops stationed there. From what I can see, Israel is in the arms business. These people have many customers and they produce arms. I was wondering how such a small country, with a small population could afford such a highly technological Armed Forces. They have been sharing technology and selling it with just about every country in the West. They even share technology with India and China according to sources. I also see why the U.S. is so bias towards Israel too. Their technology is on the level with the U.S. from what I see. It also explains to me why they get away with things too. You just as well call that entire country a military base.

But if you are actually interested in the truth and not antisemitic propoganda the IDF budget for 2012 is 15.2 billion dollars of which 2.8 billion or so comes from the US (that's 2000 dollars per Israeli and 13 cents per American) So the poster you replied to is not telling the truth.

Criticism of Israel or US support for Israel's military does not equal anti-semitism.

Waving that scurrilous canard is a sign of desperation.

We're paying for about one-fifth of Israel's military budget. Sweet. For them.

No one is buying what you're selling anymore. The fact is its disgusting that we can get bipartisan support for shit like this when we can't even maintain our own infrastructure.

Head start? Home heating assistance? Medicare? social security? ALL ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK!

Another half billion for Israel? Automatic bi-partisan support!

This is immoral, its a perversion and it's an outrage. Its time to pick a side. You can support Israel (i do to but not at any cost) but if you're OK with taking food and necessities from the mouths of Americans to fund them you're looking at treason.
