Bannon changes tune on Musk, says hes impressed
by Lauren Irwin - 11/27/24 9:57 PM ET
President-elect Trumps former political strategist, Steve Bannon, appears to have changed his tune on tech billionaire Elon Musk, saying hes impressed with the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-chair.
Bannon said Wednesday on his War Room podcast that he credited Musk with Trumps election victory and recalled his recent interview with Puck News.
I told them one thing has impressed me with Elon, Bannon said, highlighted by Mediaite. And look, we have huge ideological differences, including about the Chinese Communist Party, lets put a pin in that for a second.
Without Musk donating millions to Trumps campaign and his get-out-the-vote efforts for the low propensity voters, Trump wouldnt have had the massive victory, Bannon said.

(24,270 posts)back again to jail soon for another crime. If we're going to put him on the air here at DU, at least cover his scummy face w/ a paper bag so I don't have to look at the troll. And yes, I know that I'm not being nice to him. He doesn't deserve it compared to the literally millions of us out there that are far nicer to other human beings.

Bannon has Trumps ear, and is crediting Musk with Trumps win.

(35,590 posts)Every time that Trump or his cronies pretend that have the authority to create a government department. Don't normalize this creative fiction be repeating it without a prominent correction.

(21,016 posts)Hell, the 14th amendment says that Trump cant even serve without a ⅔s majority of both houses giving a pass.

Section 3
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

(18,137 posts)They didn't, nor did any federal courts. Officially, he's not an insurrection, although 1/6th looks sure makes him look like one.

(21,016 posts)Go back and read it:
The Supreme Court did not question whether or not the 14th amendment applied. They said it wasnt up to the individual states to enforce it against federal candidates.
https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/amdt14-S3-2/ALDE_00000070/
The default position of Section 3 is that he cannot serve, unless it is overridden by ⅔s majority votes in both houses.

(18,137 posts)It is not a state office. The Supreme Court in June said Congress needs to convict a President, and it was unanimous. The 14th should have been more clear. It was poorly written.
Also, with all due respect, just because YOU view it as an insurrection does not make automatic.

TO THE ENEMY?
CHARLES WARREN
Washington, D. C.
In Young v. United States it was held that the words "aid or comfort to the rebellion" as used in the Captured and Abandoned Property Act of March 12, 1863, in the Civil War, were used in the same sense as in the Constitution defining treason--"that is to say, in their hostile sense"; and in that case, where a man contracted with the government of the State of North Carolina to provide warlike supplies and to aid in running cotton out through the blockade, and performed acts carrying out his contract, it was held that the acts were clearly treasonable.

(18,137 posts)Otherwise a Republican Congress could simply deem a Democrat President an insurrectionist.
The 14th Amendment was made with the Civil War in mind, and was horrifically written. The SC thankfully cleared it up.
I know you mean well, but on this issue, it's over. We lost.
