Giuliani found in contempt of court for continued defamation of Georgia women

Source: MSNBC

A federal judge on Friday found Rudy Giuliani in contempt of court for his continued defamation of two former Georgia election workers, just days after a different federal judge held him in contempt for failing to turn over his assets to them as ordered.

In a courtroom in Washington, D.C., U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell excoriated Giuliani for continuing to defame Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, saying he violated a permanent injunction that he agreed to in May “in at least six ways.”

In November, attorneys for Freeman and Moss asked Howell to find Giuliani in contempt for allegedly violating the injunction to stop claiming that the women engaged in fraud during the 2020 election or repeating any of the statements about them for which he was found liable for defamation. Their attorney said in a motion that the former New York City mayor has continued to accuse the women of wrongdoing on his online show, “America’s Mayor Live,” citing examples in two of his episodes.

i.e., his own lawyers as a last-ditch defense and "justification" for preserving his remaining funds OR the judge given he only intermittently appears competent.

Of course there might not be any money left, but Rudy is no longer competent to manage his affairs.

I just want him to have to turn over his assets to those two women in Georgia whose lives he ruined.
When is that going to happen?

I will believe that when I see it. Can Trump pardon him again? I don't think so because these are not federal charges. But if these are only civil charges then he can't go to jail for that I don't think.

HAHAHA. Federal judge orders Rudy Giuliani to swear in a statement that records show there was no fraud in the 2020 election. If he doesn’t, he’ll be fined $200 a day.

I check to confirm this story
https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/10/politics/rudy-giuliani-contempt-hearing-defamation-case/index.html
In addition to finding Giuliani in contempt, Howell ordered that within 10 days - Trump’s Inauguration Day – he must swear in a statement sent to the court that he’s reviewed and acknowledges several records showing that there was no fraud in the 2020 election. If he doesn’t do that, he’ll be fined $200 a day.

Judge Howell may send Rudy to jail if contempt continues

https://www.rawstory.com/rudy-giuliani-contempt/

Rudy Giuliani has been found in contempt of court again, but this time, the judge is using a different tactic.

Thus far, Judge Beryl Howell has not held Giuliani accountable for contempt, but those days are ending. Giuliani appeared before the court on Friday, and the judge mandated that he sign a sworn declaration saying evidence at a 2023 defamation trial refuted his claims about Freeman and Moss. If he doesn't sign the paper, he'll be issued a $200 fee for each day he refuses or ultimately jailed.

It's the first time Giuliani has been threatened with jail time for contempt.

“So what you’re saying is that this defamation is never going to stop?” Howell asked. “He believed it in 2021 when he made the original statements. He believed it all throughout the trial. He believes it today. It’s never going to stop. That’s chilling.”

“Mr. Giuliani does have a history of not completing his financial obligations,” Howell said.

Legal analyst P. Andrew Torrez, who hosts "Law and Chaos," characterized it as Howell "reading him for filth for an hour," before requiring the change.

"Literally any other non-Trump human who displayed this level of open contempt for a court with no signs of remorse would be given a night in lockup to cool their heels with an instruction to come back on your knees with a fulsome apology if you want to be let out," Torrez lamented.

Needs to spend some quality time in jail. By some quality time, I mean a long long time. He truly deserves it.

And yet another one of Trumps buddies is thrown under the bus, as Trump walks away smiling.
