'Not What We Signed Up For': Trump Voter Rips Trump Policies To WSJ -- Says 'I Don't Like Chaos'

A Trump voter named Paul Bisson ripped President Donald Trumps turbulent early second term, telling the Wall Street Journal I dont like chaos and Trumps rollout is not what Trump voters signed up for.
The first weeks of Trumps second term has been characterized by a string of successful cabinet nominations, a relentless testing of executive power and governing norms, and a high-stakes game of chicken with the stock market over tariffs. That running start has not thrilled consumers, many of whom voted for Trump. In a new piece from WSJs Rachel Wolfe and Joe Pinsker, consumer data and talks with Trump voters indicate strong warning signs of dissatisfaction:
Consumer sentiment fell about 5% in the University of Michigans preliminary February survey of consumers to its lowest reading since July 2024. Expectations of inflation in the year ahead jumped from 3.3% in January to 4.3%, the second month in a row of large increases and highest reading since November 2023. Its very rare to see a full percentage point jump in inflation expectations, said Joanne Hsu, who oversees the survey.
Republicans have come off a postelection surge in confidence, she said, and Democrats and Independents also seem to believe that economic conditions have deteriorated since last month. Morning Consults recent index of consumer confidence, too, fell between Jan. 25 and Feb. 3, driven primarily by concern over the countrys economic future. I dont like the turbulence. I dont like the chaos in the market, said Paul Bisson, a 58-year-old, who writes proposals for a flight safety company and co-owns a dog daycare in San Antonio. Bisson voted for Trump, but feels his policies have led to that chaos.

(2,695 posts)Is exactly what they were voting for. They were arrogant and ignorant enough to think that they and their loved ones wouldnt also be harmed. Id say that they should experience the economic, health and social consequences of their vote just like the rest of us are being forced to endure.

He couldn't give two shits what that idiot trump voter says. He didn't before the election either, which is why it was so weird these people would vote for him.

Especially the WHITE eggs! It's their way of showing their fanatical solidarity and rabid devotion to DUMP. The sky's the limit for egg prices for these

One fact remains: you were warned. Repeatedly.
Godspeed and good luck to us all, our children will have a tricky job rebuilding a broken nation. Perhaps we can learn compassion from the coming decades of horrific misfortune befallen us now.

(7,766 posts)I posted many times that since his 1st term was total chaos his 2nd term was certain to be a repeat of the chaos. But I was watching different sources that he apparently was. Fox News, which I never watched, was apparently not airing the chaos and went with comments from talking heads about the events of the day. I didn't anticipate Musk before the announcement but other than that I am hard-pressed to think of any real surprises. Is something else in play? Perhaps he didn't see chaos because the other option was that uppity black woman.

(27,832 posts)This is part of the reason I hate "Dems have no message." Trump couldn't have been clearer. Did they listen? No, they did not. They hear what they want to. The idea that all Democrats have to do is 'splain things and everybody will stop voting against their interests ...

What does it actually mean, or promise?
Ask 1 million people, and you will get 1 million different answers.
I guess a lot of people assumed there would be a lot of positivity coming their way from Trump's vague statements and promises, but politicians are best judged on their stated policies and details, and not trust 'I will see you right' from any politician.
Too easy -but wrong - to translate vague promises into things that are relevant to you.
You know the rational thought process:
"He said . . . he meant . . . implied benefits to me are . . ."
I'm guessing Trump isn't a politician? Or honest? Or rational? /sarcasm

(6,977 posts)thinking Trump didn't mean to target THEM!
He was supposed to be selective, and only pick on the Dems, the free thinkers, the 'woke' people, the invading hordes of drug dealers and rapists.
Push those down so Repugs can rise to the top.
Turns out Trump is very fair, he picks on everyone.
No, you can't take your vote back! No do-over on that election!
You can send stuff back to Amazon for buyer's regret, and get your money back - but voting doesn't work like that.
I guess you were planning to have a little sarcastic giggle every time FOX told you how Trump was hurting Dems and woke people but left you alone because you were smart enough to vote for him.

The Mood of the American Consumer is Souring
https://www.wsj.com/economy/consumers/americans-jittery-over-inflation-university-of-michigan-survey-suggests-1476cf39
Of course, article is totally paywalled.
I guess the guy isn't worried about eggs as much as his portfolio??????
Bisson is hoping to retire in the not-too-distant future, and is worried that wont be possible if Trump follows through with his tariff threats rather than just using them as a negotiating tactic.
That will make the economy worse, and thats not what we signed up for, Bisson said. Weve already cut back. Theres no more cutting back to do.
