JD Vance Criticizes Judge After DOGE Is Blocked From Treasury Department

Source: Huff Post

Feb 9, 2025, 01:01 PM EST | Updated 4 hours ago

Vice President JD Vance wrote on social media Sunday that judges “aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power” after a federal judge blocked the Department of Government Efficiency from accessing data within the Treasury Department.

“If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal,” Vance wrote on X. “If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that’s also illegal. Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

Elon Musk, the head of Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, which is a non-cabinet level department, and aims to cut government spending, reposted Vance’s post on X.

On Friday, 19 state attorneys sued the federal government, alleging that Musk’s DOGE team accessing the Treasury Department’s central payment system is a violation of federal law. U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer temporarily blocked Musk’s team from accessing the treasury department. Engelmayer did not immediately return a request for comment.

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) scolded Vice President J.D. Vance for trying to "rage-quit the Republic" after he disagreed with a judge's ruling that barred billionaire Elon Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing the Treasury Department's payment system.

In a Saturday order, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer temporarily blocked most Trump administration officials — including DOGE — from accessing the Treasury's records. The move came after 19 state attorneys general warned that the privacy of the residents of their states could be put at risk......

Cheney responded to Vance on the BlueSky social media platform.

"If you believe any of the multiple federal courts that have ruled against you so far are exceeding their statutory or Constitutional authority, your recourse is to appeal," she insisted. "You don't get to rage-quit the Republic just because you are losing. That's' tyranny."

Just swap "judge" for "priest" and that's where we are.

the "turbulent priest" quote is attributed to Henry II of England preceding the death of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in 1170. While the quote was not expressed as an order, it prompted four knights to travel from Normandy to Canterbury, where they killed Becket due to an ongoing dispute between crown and church. The phrase is commonly used in modern-day contexts to express that a ruler's wish may be interpreted as a command by his or her subordinates. It is also commonly understood as shorthand for any rhetorical device allowing leaders to covertly order or exhort violence among their followers, while still being able to claim plausible deniability for political, legal, or other reasons.

Its time that our Democratic leaders warn Trump that if he refused to obey the law and judicial orders that he will be removed from office using the 14th Amendment's disqualification clause. It would only take a simple majority and for that only a very small number or GOP votes would be needed. Its time to put every Republicans on the record on whether they support the rule of law or not. Vance's statement is an outrage and must not be ignored.

10. J.D. Vance is one cunning & scheming, opportunistic individual whose ultimate goal is to be president.

He was a never-trumper when he figured Trump would lose to Hillary but an ass-kissing Trump supporter when he figured Trump had a chance to win in '24 beating Biden and even if he did not, Vance would set himself up to be a GOP favorite in '28. Getting picked as Trump's VP was golden for Vance.
