Postmaster General Louis DeJoy says it's time to find his replacement
The Postal Service Board of Governors will search for his successor.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is planning his exit as the leader of the U.S. Postal Service, a closing chapter to his contentious four-plus year tenure at the agency.

In a letter released by the USPS on Tuesday, DeJoy asked the agency's board of governors to begin the process in identifying his successor.(1)

“While there remains much critical work to be done to ensure that the Postal Service can be financially viable as we continue to serve the nation in our essential public service mission, I have decided it is time to start the process of identifying my successor and of preparing the Postal Service for this change,” DeJoy said in a statement.

The statement did not say when DeJoy plans to step down.

How that guy was still running things was one of the greatest ball drops for the administration. We need a take action leader ready by the next election.

Fixing the Post Office and high speed rail could be 2 good issues for Dems.

Indianapolis may be the worst. There are now reportedly over a million packages just sitting in piles. The piles are growing, not shrinking. I have one that was shipped on Jan 12. It hasn't moved since Feb 4.

Mission accomplished. I'm sure UPS, Fedex, DHL, and Amazon owe a great debt to DeJoy.

You screwed up our Postal system as much as you could, so as soon as Trump gets in you resign so they can get someone in to fuck it up some more. Pretty soon we'll have men delivering our mail via horseback again. Arshole. Grown man acting like a child in a hearing in Congress, holding your hands over your ears so you couldn't hear the questions.
We The People accept your resignation.

By a President legally. It's a done by a Board of Governors who were selected by Previous Presidents. Consider the outrage and the field day they would have grilling Biden on this post of he did what tRUmp did.

Biden needed only one more governor to vote for DeJoy's removal. Over two years THREE slots opened up. His three nominees, all of whom became governors, did nothing. Even when his own Party was screaming about DeJoy and mail-in voting.

(I also think DeJoy's destruction of mail sorting machines, some brand new, was a criminal act and should have resulted in charges by the DoJ. Another fail.)

Like many companies and organizations, the Postal Service has a board that oversees operations. This board is called the Board of Governors. One of its roles is to select the Postmaster General.

The Board of Governors itself is made up of as many as nine governors, who are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. No more than five governors at any one time may be from the same political party. The governors select and have the authority to remove the Postmaster General. The Postmaster General is a member of the Board, and participates in the selection of the Deputy Postmaster General by the full Board.

Biden only needed one more Governor to step up and remove DeJoy. Biden made THREE nominations to the Board. All three cleared the Senate and made the board - and did squat.

I have had nothing but trouble since he "fixed" the postal service. I had mail delivered 3 miles up the road and 2 checks that never did arrive. The local tax collector had her husband bolt a steel box to the front porch and everyone in our county now drives to her house and deposits their taxes in the mail slot in the top of the steel box. It is the only way they can be sure she gets it. He sure 'fixed' things.

He's likely to be replaced by a current Republican on the board.

My local mail delivery was 3 days before DeJoy. Now it takes 7-10, and costs me more no than then. This man was put in to destroy the Postal service and failed. Thank God. A few years back it was so bad, when I had ordered blank checks and they sat at the downtown post office for a month. Yeah, it's time for him to go

Now my next concern: The statement did not say when DeJoy plans to step down.
