'This is a family issue': Allegations are flying behind the scenes at Goya Foods

Source: CNN Business

Updated 9:48 PM EST, Thu February 27, 2025

New York CNN — Earlier this week, the controversial former boss of Goya Foods self-published a mysterious press release about his departure from the company. Robert “Bob” Unanue said that after nearly five decades at the family business, he was suddenly informed that his “employment” at the company was over and he had “no real answers” as to why, noting Goya did not publicly indicate he was no longer leading the company.

“While the (board’s) decision has left many questions unanswered,” Unanue, a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, continued on X, “one thing is certain — I will not waver in my fight against child trafficking,” referencing his view that open border policies lead to exploitation and trafficking.

The post has nearly 70,000 likes on X and support in the comments from conservative-leaning accounts.

But a lawsuit filed in Bergen County, New Jersey Superior Court by Bob Unanue’s cousin and Goya executive and board member Francisco “Frankie” Unanue on February 5 alleges that Bob Unanue engaged in a “clandestine agreement” that permitted the “looting” of Goya and thereafter “colluded” with a long-time friend to “perpetrate and/or cover up the resulting damage to Goya.”

Every one of these types that associate with 45 ARE grifters. It's a requirement for entrance into "the club". Some might remember this crap -

I have boycotted them ever since and found other companies that make many of the specialized Hispanic food products that they sell.

his own business and thought maybe it was to harm other family members, in keeping with this new, suicidally-stupid trend of burning it all down.

Being part of a family corporation myself, this concept of a family member stealing from a family business is so demented. It could also alert the attention of the financial agencies and even the FBI which (prior to Kash Patel) is taking a much closer look at corporations, looking for money laundering and shell companies, etc...

He was "looting". I believe that's stealing. Couldn't have happened to a nicer company.

I always used to buy their spicy vegetarian refried beans. Haven't found affordable others that I like as much, but it's a small sacrifice I will gladly make forever unless some future management repudiates support for Trump.

That has pissed me off since Trump had that crap on his oval office desk the first admin.

I wonder if he was funneling money to Trump or MAGA Political groups without board approval and that was part of the 'looting'?

Color me not surprised. The unscrupulous and immoral flock to Donny. If they support the orange moron, they're obviously doing something immoral, illegal or both.

And those bottom pictures. The Trumps are supposedly master "marketeers." The root of why I despise every single, solitary thing about all of them. Even if I didn't know who they were, that's supposed to convince me to buy that product? No, that's going to make me NOT buy that product because they're wrapping it in obvious, marketing bullshit.
