Democratic senators slam White House after blow up

A group of bipartisan senators met with Zelenskyy on Friday morning.

Sens. Lindsey Graham, Chris Coons, and Amy Klobuchar and other Democratic and Republican senators gathered for an hourlong "encouraging" meeting with Zelenskyy ahead of his visit to the White House, the three lawmakers posted on their social media accounts.

After Zelenskyy's fiery exchange with Trump and Vance in the Oval Office, Klobuchar and Coons defended the Ukrainian president on X -- particularly the moment where Vance accused Zelensky of being "disrespectful" toward his American hosts.

"Answer to Vance: Zelenskyy has thanked our country over and over again both privately and publicly. And our country thanks HIM and the Ukrainian patriots who have stood up to a dictator, buried their own & stopped Putin from marching right into the rest of Europe. Shame on you," Klobuchar wrote.

... worse than I imagined.

I couldn't believe it ever got past an editor as any kind of sociological argument. It might've somewhat flown if it were presented strictly as a memoir but this guy's reach is a fevered hallucination past his actual grasp.

I was even more horrified by the progressives in my community who were embracing it and the movie.

F*** this guy. I look forward to his obscure but ignominious future.

I was also throughly enjoying the posts on Bluesky about his attempt to vacay in Vermont.

I'm not saying he's the first person to write about a dysfunctional upbringing but (and maybe this is just my intense dislike of him coloring my judgement) this felt a little more exploitative. I kept wondering how his mom really felt about it -- I mean, I know she was reportedly proud of him as a VP candidate but... you know.

Maybe I'm also projecting from my own family issues, some of which became public in my own small town. And when a parent lets you down, you do often have a sense of "you owe me."

I guess it's complicated. But I didn't come away from that book feeling like he was a good person. And that was WAY before this.

I would probably feel differently if it seemed like any kind of greater, societal good came from dragging his mama through the NYT bestseller list and launching a career off of her troubles.

Yeah, my feelings are complicated except for the part where I really can't stand him.

I checked out the audio book from the library and was surprised by its shallowness. His personal experience was somehow deemed worthy by those interviewers as making him an expert on addiction and socioeconomics. I lost a lot of respect for those who praised Vance. No one did their own research. I also learned to avoid author interviews for the most part and take others with a grain of salt.

I said that about TSF before his first season. During the run-up to the first Trump reign I remember helping a call center in Costa Rica with training and diagnostics. I remember the guy was worried about Trump defeating Hillary, and I told him America would never elect a pumpkin.
I guess I didn't understand the American people, or the ability of the .01% to manipulate them.

My current view is a lot of Americans will believe any story told by RW media ( which is most the media these days) about the great Deal Maker in Chief and ignore the repudiation of American norms, values, laws, and ethics by the orange bag of petty, hateful impulses, and his minions.

More worrisome to me is that people seem to think he's compos mentis. The way he talks, his "weave", sounds like what it is: The patois of a conman. He has a decidedly limited vocabulary, and trouble with word choice and completion.

"...Other symptoms of aphasia include: difficulty retrieving words, difficulty understanding spoken utterances, difficulty understanding complex grammar, speaking haltingly or with effort, and making grammatical errors.
"

He had 3 world leaders correct his errors (lies?) to his face this week and still couldn't learn (accept the truth). I can't remember if he had to report mental conditions during his post conviction intake but if he did I wonder if it's a public record subject to a FOIA in New York?

By February 2022, Thiel was one of the largest donors to Republican candidates in the 2022 election campaign with more than $20.4 million in contributions. He supported 16 senatorial and congressional candidates, several of whom were proponents of the falsehood that there was significant voter fraud in the 2020 election, one of whom was OH Sen. JD Vance, who had previously worked for Thiel.

Koch's Heritage oligarch network has been around longer than the Silicon oligarchs, but they both share typical oligarch values with Putin's oligarchs. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/kremlin-oligarchs-silicon-valley-its-only-money-jack-myers

Seeking a reason for war, the US fabricated some facts to stoke Americans into the interdiction of Vietnam.
Like the babies being dumped out of incubators by Hussein.
Like the USS Missouri that led to the Korean War.

All those reasons have some level of suspicion, but we were against Russia then.
Now Trumpers will double down on hating Zelenski.
