Senate GOP Restores Medicaid Cuts to Trump Tax Package
Source: Bloomberg
(Bloomberg) -- Senate Republicans restored major Medicaid cuts to Donald Trumps signature economic legislation, re-fashioning a key provision to overcome a procedural obstacle.
Spending cuts to the health insurance program for the poor and disabled partially offset revenue losses from tax cuts in the measure and are a crucial demand of GOP fiscal conservatives.
The revision helps Republicans shore up the spending cuts they need to fund the bill, but it could also alienate three crucial senators Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Thom Tillis of North Carolina who have been pushing to scale back the Medicaid cuts.
Senate Republican Leader John Thune is trying to navigate competing demands from conservatives and moderates as he rushes to pass the massive tax and spending package to meet a July 4 deadline Trump has set for congressional approval.

Greedy Old Pigs want to give a tax break to those who don't need it while screwing over everyone else in the process.

(7,955 posts)But both my grandson and I fight depression, and he's AD&D on top of that; so we've decided against having one in the house... at least for now. We're okay as long as the meds schedule is adhered to... but having such a definitive "solution" is one temptation too many AFAIC. I could see us changing our minds in the future, if the hell on earth we're beginning to experience now gets worse (and we know it will).
We've got CoreCivic wanting to build a new detention (re: deportation) center here... we're marching against it on 7/19. Tempers run high when you're talking jobs and money...

When society doesn't want to deal with a social problem, it often gets heaped onto libraries. Since this is a political forum, I don't see why I should be expected to laugh at something that hits at a hard truth that a lot of people are not aware of.
On edit: to be honest, the image of the front desk check out scenario, does make me laugh, though!

(7,634 posts)As a very senior, a widow and without funds,. I guess I'll die.
Without Medicare and S S, I am lost. Maybe I'll just forget about the fact that I worked all my life and expected things to be different. How naive am I?
Best of luck to those for whom this is not an issue. Keep enjoying your Filet Mignon while millions of us have nothing.
Can you tell how much I hate trump and his minions? Hope he chokes on his next burger.
Damn!
