Trump 'doesn't care' if abandoned GOP seats are won by Democrats: ex-senator

Source: Raw Story

July 4, 2025 8:06AM ET

According to a former Republican lawmaker who fell out of favor with Donald Trump, walked away from his seat in the U.S. Senate and then saw a Democrat take his place, the president is unfazed by the GOP caucus taking another possible loss.

In a deep dive into two GOP lawmakers recently announcing they will not run in 2026, Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), former Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) was asked about the shrinking number of Republican moderates in Congress by the Wall Street Journal.

After butting heads with Trump, Flake walked away from his seat, saw it filled by then-Democrat Kyrsten Sinema who was then replaced by Sen. Rueben Gallego (D-AZ).

As the Journal's Molly Ball wrote, the two recent announcements of departures are "the latest casualties of the president’s insistence on unstinting loyalty as the party looks ahead to a potentially difficult midterm election next year."

He has already turned the FBI into a force loyal only to him and willing to act as his personal enforcement and terrorizing police force. Hitler had the SS, Putin has the GRU, and Trump is building the same power to order those he chooses to eliminate. The additional $45 billion he just got to build up ICE and new private prisons gives him enormous control of the whole population, not just migrants. Palantir now has a mega-database with all our most private data, and Trump can use it any way he wants to target anyone who offends him.

If Democrats retake control of the House next year, he doesn’t care because he will just ignore Congress. I suspect he would decide to create his own federal budget without Congress, with help from the Project 2025 crazies like Russell Vought. The Heritage Foundation has promoted the unitary executive theory for years with the executive having all power over all of government. It appears they have succeeded in giving Trump such power because Congress and the Supreme Court have rolled over and refused to serve as Constitutional checks and balances.

he would instead focus on "endorsing" loyal subjects to run against Democrats who are up in other locations, like what happened here in PA when Bob Casey lost to carpet-bagger McCormick or like how cretins like the one who became his VP, ousted Sherrod Brown.

Jon Ossoff is up in 2026 in GA and I expect they are furiously rubbing their hands together to get at that seat. There will probably be a lot of performance art going on in NH too for Jeane Shaheen's seat, which Scott Brown has been eyeing.

The bad one: he knows all future elections are rigged and he can do whatever he wants

The good one: he doesn't plan to run again and doesn't care what kind of trash heap he leaves for his party or our country when he goes.

I'm going to choose to be optimistic because I don't think he likes being president, and he only ran again to stay out of jail and get back at us for not electing him in 2020. I think he thinks (rightfully, as we have learned all too well) that no one has the spleen to make him pay for his crimes, so he doesn't have to run again.

the Republicans were going to have a brokered convention to choose another candidate but they realized that because Trump was so wildly popular among their authoritarian base they could not win without him. So they chose an authoritarian Strong Leader who was not committed to democracy as their candidate.

They ended the legitimacy of the Republican party as a partner in democracy. This not only has consequences for democracy in the US, it also has consequences internal to the Republican party. A political party cannot have an authoritarian Strong Leader as its head and also be fully democratic.

Or any meaningful dissent if he were to lose allies.

Thats where the new ice funding will come in handy. They know the rest of the bill is a disaster for voters, they made the bet that that will take care of pesky voter issues.

I don't think courts will even matter.

They're already getting more and more irrelevant every day.

Of course, I guess it would be nice for the fascists to have a

From Krasnov's speech July 2024 to Christians @ Turning Point

WASHINGTON, July 27 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told Christians on Friday that if they vote for him this November, "in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."

Trump was speaking at an event organized by the conservative group Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump said: "Christians, get out and vote, just this time. "You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."
He added: "I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote," Trump said.

... an off-hand comment he made not long ago, that in the near future, "... you won't even have to vote. We'll take care of it." Or words very close to that effect.
Republicans in Miami recently pulled a stunt that will certainly find its way to the Trump-worshipping Roberts Court: They cancelled elections for next year, with an absurdly fabricated justification. The subsequent judgement will likely favor Trump's evil scheme to assert the power to do the same thing on a national level.
Total dictatorship, here we come!

Saturday

He isn't going to jail
He has made billions and hidden it so nobody can take it away
He knows that even he can't figure out how to run again and get away with it
He knows dems will take the house an impeach him but he also knows the senate won't convict (again)
He knows he can do whatever he feels like as president even with a dem house and senate he will just veto any bill he doesn't like

He doesn't need to stop any elections to do or avoid any of the above, he will cause chaos by suggesting he's going to do that though just like he keeps suggesting he could runa gain.

Until everyone learns to stop reacting to every idiotic thing that comes out of his mouth he will keep getting what he wants.

The best way to defeat him personally is to IGNORE HIM! He is a publicity whore, he always has been. Do we need to win back the house and the senate, of course we do but IGNORE HIM and we will succeed in so many more ways.
