TEXAS, USA President Donald Trump said Sunday that he expects to visit Texas this week after deadly floods left at least 82 dead and dozens more missing across the state.
Trump told reporters Sunday that he will "probably" visit the Lone Star State on Friday. "We wanted to leave a little time. I wanted to do it today, but we'd just be in their way. Probably Friday," Trump said.
State officials announced Sunday that at least 82 were killed in the floods and dozens more were confirmed to be unaccounted for across the state. Trump's comments came after he signed a major disaster declaration on Sunday for hard-hit Kerr County to make federal funding available for those impacted.
"These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State." The assistance can include grants for housing and home repairs, among other things.

(32,354 posts)I was afraid of this: trump would never let an unspeakable tragedy go to waste---particularly when he and his gang of incompetents played such a large role in letting it happen. Big thanks for gutting the critical weather services, ass-wipe; hurricane season ought to be a lot of fun this year. The sonovabitch will probably even dodge good-sized protests here in Texas; people are so dispirited by all the death and destruction. That's all right---just as long as he and Governor Hot Wheels have a good time...

(35,520 posts)for Trump to be a savior, and I'm sure he'd profit from it in some
way if he could.
He and his minions took control of FEMA, virtually decimated it,
and now he's trying to activate it again.
I wonder what FEMA will even do now.

(2,015 posts)Six months in and this is the first one he's visiting or even acknowledged. Body count must not have been high enough in the other disasters. Maybe they didn't give him a chance to say "nobody's ever seen a disaster this bad." The "nobody's ever seen/heard" bit is his favorite phrase.

(7,955 posts)and trump LOVES the way he's handling his little "immigration problem." SIL said word she's heard is Abbott and trump wants to import crocodiles and put them in the Rio Grande.
Funny tho... I thought crocodiles only lived in salt water?

(26,115 posts)He knew gutting NOAA would hurt forecasting, but he hates us so much, and needed all of our money for himself and his billionaire fascist friends that he did it and now lies about it. Poor TX having to get hit twice by monsters, with the knowledge that they caused the deaths by their idiotic choices.
