Trump announces 25% tariff on India and unspecified penalties for buying Russian oil

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he’ll impose a 25% tariff on goods from India, plus an additional import tax because of India’s purchasing of Russian oil.

Trump said on his Truth Social platform that India “is our friend” but its “Tariffs are far too high” on U.S. goods.

The Republican president added that India buys military equipment and oil from Russia, which he said has enabled the war in Ukraine. As a result, he intends to charge an additional “penalty” starting on Friday as part of the launch of his administration’s revised tariffs on multiple countries.

The new tariffs could put India at a disadvantage in the U.S. market relative to Vietnam, Bangladesh and, possibly, China, said Ajay Sahai, director general of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations.

2. A friend of mine sells Petal Skirts made from recycled Saris from India...

I do not think she is going to like having to pay an additional 25% TAX on her orders. She orders up to 100 skirts at a time every 3 months or so. Some months, she sells upwards to 50 skirts that she charges $30 USD plus $11.50 shipping via USPS Priority Mail.

the generic versions of many drugs we take and the U.S. is India's biggest customer.

that generate from India. Modi won't like that since he gets kickbacks/bribes and more money into his country's economy. After I was scammed over a year ago I did extensive research and this is really happening and our govt can't do shit and Modi WON'T do shit since if benefits him in the long run.
