Aug 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump is removing Billy Long as the commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing four people familiar with the matter.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will serve as acting commissioner until a permanent replacement is in place, the newspaper said, citing a senior administration official.

The mystery is that Billy Long was as servile a Trumpy cretin as could be found in all the land, and would immediately jump to follow any directive from King Trump as soon as it dribbled out of his thin lips. So how does he get the shitcan? The fact that they're talking about an ambassador position for him is probably a clue: he was always meant to be replaced by Bessent, but just probably after six months or so, not two months, which is the head scratcher. Something's up with Bessent, seems to me.

Iceland is a nice country, very safe, population about 300,000. Ambassador isn't a bad gig, probably not much work, but winters there are kind of tough.
