Active shooter reported on Emory University's Atlanta campus

Source: ABC News

Emory University reported an active shooter on its Atlanta, Georgia, campus on Friday.

The school's official website said the incident was occurring near the Emory Point CVS.

A shelter-in-place order has been put in place. "RUN. HIDE. FIGHT. Avoid the area," the university said.

Sources told ABC News that local police encountered a suspect and attempted to engage the person when gunfire was exchanged.

It has finally dawned on me that living I’m living in a safe country and guns/this doesn’t happen.
We walk before it’s light out - alone.
It took so long to exhale.

It is glory.

No guns. Glory.

Also, it's come out that the gunman started this off by shooting at the CDC building.

And as can be expected all the repub politicians in Georgia are offering more thoughts and prayers instead of working to solve our gun problem.

The Emory shooter was a regular visitor to right-wing social media accounts which persuaded him that the Covid-19 vaccine was to blame for all his personal medical problems. So he took his gun to shoot up the CDC, killing a policeman in the process.

After speaking with the suspected shooter’s family members, police are operating under the theory that he was either sick or believed that he was sick and blamed the illness on the Covid-19 vaccine, a law enforcement official told CNN.

Multiple rounds were fired “we believe at law enforcement and potentially the CDC,” Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said during a news conference, but he added they are still investigating the situation.

No word from RFK Jr. yet. I guess it's 50-50 between "thoughts and prayers" and "well, he had a point, I blame Fauci!". He is literally not commenting:

Susan Monarez, the agency’s director who was sworn in just last week, said in a post on X that the agency was working with federal, state, and local law enforcement to investigate the shooting.

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of everyone at CDC,” Monarez wrote.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared Monarez’s post on X but did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

RFK Jr to remove all members of CDC panel advising on US vaccines

The health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, is getting rid of all members sitting on a key US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel of vaccine experts and reconstituting the committee, he said on Monday.

Kennedy is retiring and replacing all 17 members of the CDC’s advisory committee for immunization practices, he wrote in piece published in the Wall Street Journal.

“Without removing the current members, the current Trump administration would not have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028,” Kennedy wrote.

Kennedy, in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, said the committee members had too many conflicts of interest. Committee members routinely disclose any possible conflicts at the start of public meetings.
...
Kennedy recently took the unusual step of changing Covid-19 recommendations without first consulting the panel.

That sure is the way to build up confidence in the CDC, isn't it?
