Gov. Healey demands Republic Services immediately resolve trash strike

CANTON, Mass. —
Gov. Maura Healey is calling for Republic Services to resolve a trash collection strike that is now in its sixth week and affecting more than a dozen Massachusetts communities.

Healey sent a letter to Jon Vander Ark, president and CEO at Republic Services on Monday. She said her attempts to speak with the CEO have not been answered.

Healey said that Republic Services must return to the bargaining table immediately and negotiate in good faith.

Healey added that her administration is ready to assist in facilitating dialogue, if needed.

Solution...have the county hire people and start picking up the trash again.
