Former Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Thursday, Aug. 21, that she will embark on a book tour across 15 cities and three countries for her new memoir 107 Days.
The book, which recounts her unsuccessful presidential run, is set to go on sale Sept. 23, with Harris starting her book tour the next day in New York City. Publisher Simon & Schuster and Harris announced the new book back in July with a video posted on the former vice president's social media accounts.
Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for President of the United States, Harris said in the announcement. Since leaving office, Ive spent a lot of time reflecting on those days and with candor and reflection, Ive written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey.
Only a day before announcing her new book, Harris said that she would not be running for the California governor's seat, but would not rule out another bid for the presidency.

(172,276 posts)have some kind of book out that supposedly fleshes out some background info on them. It is targeted at the voters who are voracious readers and also something of interest to the academics.
It also gives them an opportunity (as is noted in the OP) of going on "book tours" and for the high-profile politicos, that also means TV & radio (and also now "podcast" / "streaming" ) interviews, and broadcast "book reviews".
CSPAN3 even has a show called "BookTV", that focuses on politically-themed, usually nonfiction books, including autobiographies, biographies, and books about historic periods and/or events - https://www.c-span.org/bookTv/
I.e., it's automatic "free" media exposure. And for someone who is a former-VP, she would be in high demand.

(1,787 posts)At this point we should encourage all comers; especially a "Happy Warrior" type like Kamala Harris. Let's see what Kamala has to say. She certainly deserves respect for the super-human effort she made and I'll never forget the "eating the dogs" debate with DJT.

(1,133 posts)how we're going to win next time. Rather than spending the money on post-disaster navel gazing, I'd give the price of the book to a political campaign that is actually doing something to thwart the dictatorship. Fie on this "buy my book to learn the real story" shit.

Kamala may get another chance some day to run for President, but it won't be in 2028.

(11,851 posts)It's called "The Truths We Hold." I bought the audio early and listened to it. It was inspirational. I've pre-ordered the audio on the new one. Looking forward to it. Two exceptionally talented women - Kamala and Hillary - tried and lost running against that orange orangutan. This country will forever look like fools for picking the worst president in our history not once but twice. So much for our world leadership.
