Zelensky vows to continue fighting as Ukraine marks independence day

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would continue to fight for its freedom "while its calls for peace are not heard," in a defiant address to the nation on its independence day.

"We need a just peace, a peace where our future will be decided only by us," he said, adding that Ukraine was "not a victim, it is a fighter".

He continued: "Ukraine has not yet won, but it has certainly not lost."

Zelensky's remarks came after Moscow said Ukraine had attacked Russian power and energy facilities overnight, blaming drone attacks for a fire at a nuclear power plant in its western Kursk region..................

7. Speaking of Ukrainian Independence Day,

u24.gov.ua, a website founded by Zelenskyy to raise money for Ukraine's war effort, has commissioned a bunch of "Mother of Ukraine" statue pendants in silver, including three with the shield in gold, doe a project they are calling "Allies of Steel." The three with the gold shield are to be raffled off, and the all-silver ones can be purchased. You can see photos at the site - I get the newsletter and saw photos in it, but it is only emailed, not posted, so I check the site, and yes, photos are there. It's an interesting site just to look at the photos of celebrity allies all over the world. (And the newsletter is free, and the fundraising ideas they have are awesome. The pendant is just the latest one.)
