Wasserman Schultz Says DeSantis, Trump Want Human Rights Abused at Alligator Alcatraz: 'Declared War On People Of Color'

Florida Democrat Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the rest of the party, including President Donald Trump, have “declared war on people of color” with the establishment of the so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the state.

Speaking with CNN anchor Jessica Dean on Newsroom Sunday afternoon, the Florida Democrat went after Trump several times, with multiple accusations against him and the Republican, including saying “a lot of people are going to end up dead” as a result of his being in office.

Wasserman Schultz had an equally highly charged response on the subject of the ICE detention facility in Florida referred to as “Alligator Alcatraz.” “This is a complete mess that was a political stunt from the beginning that has had human rights abuses that are incomprehensible,” she said of the facility. “All the MAGA Republicans and Ron DeSantis care about is the abuse of human rights.”

“I mean, they have declared war on people of color,” the Democrat said, adding that her party is going to continue to “push back” and “give voice” to those affected.
